Comedy Radio Station Hits Kansas City 102.5 FM

Funny 102.5 Comedy Radio Station Tests the Waters in Kansas City

UPDATE!

New Comedy Radio Show Comes To Kansas City.  Check out Kansas City's new comedy radio show, The Sunday Jones!

Even though I have XM radio, I don't really listen to it that often.  But I have found myself on long road trips enjoying the Comedy Channel on occasion.  For all of last week, if you tuned into 102.5 FM (not sure why you would do that) you would have heard a constant laugh track.  This was Funny 102.5 FM's transition program, getting Kansas City ready for their new comedy radio station.  On a side note, new radio stations in Kansas City have had some funny transition programs in the past.  I remember one station played nothing but U2 for like 2 weeks in a row.  Another station played sounds of a construction site for a week straight.  The laugh track that Funny 102.5 FM ran didn't work that well as the laughing sounded a little too close to radio static - the sound that you would normally hear at the 102.5 FM location.  So most people probably passed right by it, ignoring it completely.

Regardless, Funny 102.5 FM became Kansas City's new (and only) comedy radio station this past week airing random comedy bits from various comics, much as the XM stations "Laugh USA" and XM Comedy Showcase.  The new comedy station is actually a very nice change for Kansas City radio.  Tune in when you're in need of cheering up - maybe on your way to work, or on your way to an IRS Audit, and have a good laugh.  You idiot.

Comedy Radio Sounds Good... said...

A comedy radio station in Kansas City huh? I guess that's pretty cool. Probably better than most of the crappy music that's on the radio most of the time.

I'm enjoying it so far, except that I'm starting to hear repeat bits already. Still, it keeps my road rage down.

Great surprise to find 102.5 during a recent visit to KC. Thanks. Your station made the visit all the better. Keep up the good work.

Yes! Kansas City has needed a good comedy radio station for some time. 102.5 came along at a great time when the music scene is really terrible, and the oldies are even getting old. The comedy station is a welcome break from the norm in KC.

So far, it's great. Like the comedy.
One suggestion though, please give the name of the comedian before their material. When you give their name at the end of their routine and go right to the next persons material, that name sticks in your head during the following routine. Giving the name before their material associates the proper name with the proper material.

This station has been very enjoyable for me. I am often on the road extensively in the Kansas City area and it is nice to have a distraction from the stress in the form of a comedy radio station. Thanks for the laughs 102.5!

Love the picture of Rodney! He always wore a bathrobe. He never took an appointment before 5pm. He was a classic.

The new comedy radio station in Kansas City is pretty cool too. Not enough Rodney on there though!

I'm enjoying it. It helps keep my stress level down on the way to and from work.

Comedy Radio is Awesome! said...

Keeping the stress down is exactly what we need, the road rage in this city is so crazy. We do things in our cars to other people that we would NEVER do in person. It is a shame. But every bit helps and we are glad that the comedy radio station is doing it's part.

Love it, Love it, Love it. Sometimes I am laughing so hard while I am driving, I wonder if people think I am having a seizure. :)

This is so awesome, people actually laughing and driving at the same time. What a breakthrough for Kansas City. Thanks 102.5 !

Between this news and the opening of Jack in the Box in Overland Park, we are on our way Kansas City, we are on our way.

102.5 is refreshing; I find myself smiling most of the time in the car! Listening does help with not having "road rage". I agree that you should announce the name of the comedian before their material.

I don't know, I like the way they announce the name of the comedian after his performance clip. It's fun to try to guess who it is by the voice, or maybe I'm just bored in the car on the way home from work. But I am loving this new comedy station.

Wow, the comedy station is gone...your listeners are not happy. How do you expect us to make it through the day without comedy....oh that's right, we can discuss the comedy in the Chiefs team instead.....how in thee world do we get our comedy channel back?
