The Zeros LIVE! at The Power and Light District - Kansas City News
If you don't feel like fighting the crowds at The American Royal BBQ 2011, you can head down to the Power and Light District and catch The Zeros, Kansas City's favorite 80's tribute band. The Zeros put on a great show, performing only "new wave" 80's music, none of the idiotic 80's hair band music. The Zeros hit the stage around 10pm and will rock until they shut the place down. The Power and Light District is losing momentum as it's owners, Cordesh Inc. continue to evict businesses in the district including the most recent closing of Raglan Road Irish Pub in September.

Waldo Rapist Bernard Jackson Receives 18 Life Sentences - Kansas City News
It all started in 1977 when Bernard Jackson was convicted of his first rape at the age of 19. 6 years later, Jackson was released and he continued to torture, rob and rape women in the Waldo area until 1985 when Bernard was convicted of rape again and sentenced to 30 years. Jackson was then paroled in December of 2008, and was subsequently charged with additional rapes that occurred after his 2008 release. Bernard Jackson, a.k.a. the Waldo Rapist was sentenced today to 18 consecutive life sentences by assistant district attorney Ted Hunt for the rapes that Jackson committed back in the 1980's in light of new evidence that has been analyzed. Bernard Jackson's attorney, Carie Allen looked like some kind of bad joke today, her hair was fried out and she actually was seen laughing out loud several times during the case, yes, Carie, murder and rape are very funny topics, and your client is a ghetto stank piece of shit that belongs in jail - FOREVER.

American Royal BBQ 2011 Contest Information

Qualification Criteria Summary for US Teams:

Qualifying Period: The first weekend in August of 2010 through the final weekend in July of 2011

Invitations:

Only Grand Champions are invited. No pass downs are accepted.

Invitations will be extended to the qualified team name/head cook combination. Should the team name or head cook change after qualifying, the team must enter the American Royal Invitational under the qualifying team name/head cook combination. Should the same head cook have qualified with more than one team, he/she may enter the American Royal/KC Masterpiece Invitational Contest only one time.

An invitation will be mailed from the American Royal to the qualifiers in mid August with a deadline for returning the application by September 1st. If an invitational team would like to also compete in the Open Contest, it is MANDATORY for that team to complete the Open Application ahead of time so a space can be reserved.

  • Contests with a minimum of 50 competing teams are qualifiers and do not require a “state championship” proclamation.
  • A state with only one contest must have a minimum of 15 competing teams to be considered but does not require a “state championship” proclamation.

To be considered a “competing team,” teams must submit entries for all contest categories required to be the grand champion or overall winner of that event.

Automatic Entries Go To:

*Grand Champion of previous year’s American Royal Open Contest

*Grand Champions of previous five (5) year’s American Royal/KC Masterpiece Invitational Contest

*Grand Champion of previous year’s Annual Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue

American Royal BBQ 2010 - Tickets for Kansas City

American Royal BBQ 2010 - Tickets for Kansas City, Bands, Entertainment, Info

A lot has changed in recent years regarding Kansas City's biggest BBQ contest. For those of you who have never been, the American Royal BBQ contest is a giant grid of private parties who are entered in the BBQ competition. It's basically like a bunch of little backyard BBQ parties, except they're spread out across Kemper Arena parking lot in little squares. Now, in the old days, if you weren't invited to one of the parties, you didn't eat or drink and you just basically paid $10 to walk around and smell everyone's food. In the years of late that has changed and you can now purchase great barbecue and drinks out on the main concourse.

American Royal BBQ 2010 Entertainment
Most of the private parties have their own entertainment, from live bands to DJs, and there is also a main stage that is open to the public. For the 2010 American Royal BBQ the main stage will feature Liverpool - a Tribute to The Beatles. If you haven't seen these guys you should check them out, they do an authentic Beatles tribute down to the last detail. Last year the main stage was rockin' with an awesome line up of Brody Buster followed by headliners The KC All Stars. The live music on the main stage is followed by a great fireworks show.
