5yr Old Kansas City Area Boy's Halloween Costume Upsets Christians

Since last year, a Kansas City boy wanted to dress for Halloween like a female character from the cartoon Scooby-Doo (great show, by the way). Well his mother got him the costume for the character "Daphne" from the cartoon. Other mothers at the pre-school were none too pleased. Somehow the national media has picked up on this story with CNN and the Boston Globe running stories on the websites.

When the child asked to Daphne for Halloween, his mother was initially apprehensive, not because the costume was female, but worried that he might change his mind after spending the money for the outfit. At the last minute, the boy expressed concern that some people might make fun of him. Of course his mother reassured him - WHO WOULD MAKE FUN OF A CHILD IN A HALLOWEEN COSTUME? Well, no one as it turns out. But it seems the other mothers at the Christian pre-school were upset that the boy dressed as a female character. They began asking nosy questions - Had the child asked to be that - Don't you think he will be ridiculed - I would have forbidden it. Well, of course, the mother of this child was beside herself.

When I first read this story, I really couldn't believe that the other mothers would even care what a 5yr old would dress as for Halloween, I mean what school is this the Westboro Baptist Pre-School? In fact, if you look at comments on all of these stories, I can't find anyone who doesn't agree with the mother or "Daphne". Lets hope the negative reaction to this costume was from a very few uptight mothers, possibly uncomfortable with their own homosexual tendancied selves. With ridiculous behavior like this it is no wonder less and less people identify themselves as Christian.
