Charity Event 2012 - Masquerade by First Hand Foundation KCMB News

Masquerade 2012 by Cerner's First Hand Foundation - KCMB Kansas City News

One of the biggest and most exciting Kansas City charity events, Masquerade 2012 benefitting The First Hand Foundation by Cerner, happens this Saturday October 27th, 2012 at The Midland Theatre. In it's 7th year, this year's charity fundraiser is poised to be one of the biggest Masquerade parties yet.

The theme for Masquerade 2012 is "Where the Wild Things Are" and will feature live music from Kansas City U2 Tribute Band Rattle and Hum, produced by Adam Blue Productions.  Also, performing live will be The La De Dahs presented by Bands For Hire Live! First Hand Foundation's Masquerade 2012 will feature excellent cuisine provided by PB&J in the form of a large scrumptious buffet. There will be an open bar, photo booths, and of course everyone will be dressed up in their "wildest thing".

Masquerade 2012 Attire
In years past this event was pretty much black tie with a masquerade mask encouraged, this year, however, it seems that they are loosening things up a bit and inviting guests to dress "animal creative" similar to Jazzoo or a storybook monster costume, suits and evening gowns are the norm at this event, so that is still acceptable with a mask of some kind. If you don't have anything on hand, or don't have time to prepare, they will sell you a mask at the event. There will be face painters on hand as well, in case you want to go that extra mile! There will be prizes given out for best costume and also for best dressed.

Pricing for Masquerade 2012 ranges from $1,500 - $60,000 for sponsorship levels, or you can purchase individual tickets for $110.00 each.

Drink and graze, listen to some of Kansas City's best bands and come be a part of the event of the year!

Cerner's First Hand Foundation is an outreach charity program that works to provide funding for children's health care when insurance and other resources are exhausted. Cerner's Masquerade 2012 proceeds will all benefit The First Hand Foundation.

Tonight thousands of supporters will invade the Kansas City Zoo wearing custom tuxedos, sampling exquisite cuisine from over 65 local Kansas City restaurants, enjoying designer cocktails and donating to a wonderful cause, the animals at The Kansas City Zoo.  Kansas City's largest charity event, Jazzoo 2012, actually ranks among the top ten charity events in the entire United States.  Last year, in 2011, this Kansas City charity event raised over $800,000.  Tickets are $175.00 each, and can be purchased online at the Kansas City Zoo's website.

Jazzoo 2012 Kansas City fundraiser will feature live music by Ida McBeth, Dr. Zhivegas, Dolewite and several other Kansas City bands provided by Adam Blue Productions.  Jazzoo 2012 will begin at 6:30pm with a patrons only "happy hour" and then the main gates will open at 7:30pm.  Jazzoo 2012 will be open until 12am. There will be 10 specialty bars set up throughout the Kansas City Zoo at different locations.

The dress code for Jazzoo 2012 is what makes this Kansas City charity event so special.  The dress code is known as "creative black tie". No jeans are allowed, but you can get pretty creative with your tuxedo or evening gown. See the picture above for an example, Jazzoo is a very unique experience as the guests will be donning very entertaining costumes.

All of the benefits of Jazzoo 2012 go towards the animals of the Kansas City Zoo, and this year, in particular, the "extreme makeover" of the Tiger display area. Several different ticket package options are also available including single tickets at $175.00 each and several corporate packages are also available if you would like to bring your entire company out to Jazzoo 2012.  In the past few years the weather has ranged from extremely hot to rainy, but this year it looks like the weather will be ideal as we are experiencing a cool weather patch in Kansas City. So come out tonight and spend the evening wandering around the Kansas City Zoo, eating great food, drinking a cool beverage or two, listening to some great live music and supporting the animals at Jazzoo 2012.

Charity Event - National Health Care for the Homeless - Kansas City News

The National Health Care for the Homeless Council marches into Kansas City - Kansas City News

On Thursday evening several hundred charitable souls joined forces in Kansas City in the local of Washington Park across the street from Crown Center at Pershing and Grand.  The charity organization, National Health Care for the Homeless, held a fun and upbeat rally in the park that included inspiring speeches, music and dancing, and marching "homeless" people holding up signs for all to see.  The event was held to raise awareness for the homeless in the United States and the fact that most homeless people do not have any form of healthcare.  This week their focus was on Kansas City.

The mission statement of the National Health Care for the Homeless claims that the road to being homeless often starts with a health problem that leads to unemployment, lack of physical ability, and eventually debt and loss of residence or "homelessness". The charity event held in Kansas City was to raise awareness in Kansas City about the causes and consequences of homelessness in the city and the need to work together to end homelessness.  The NHCH believes that this effort must begin with Universal health care, or access to health care.  This is not to be confused with Obamacare, which scares most Americans due to it's ties to Socialism.  The National Health Care for the Homeless are simply trying to give the homeless of America a chance to acquire simple health care.

The NHCH was in Kansas City on Wednesday night as well, holding a charity gala, produced in part by Adam Blue Productions, at the Sheraton Crown Center (formerly The Hyatt Regency) where they had a beautiful reception, dancing and even a little karaoke.

More information on the charity organization from their website:

Integration of service and advocacy is the hallmark of Health Care for the Homeless. The principles of the National Health Care for the Homeless Council encourage homeless service providers and their clients to engage in advocacy to prevent and end homelessness. We strive to accomplish this goal by educating public policy makers, mainstream health care providers, and the general public about the causes and consequences of homelessness in the United States, and by working at national, state, and local levels to ensure:
  • Universal access to health care
  • Affordable housing regardless of income
  • Livable wages for persons able to work
  • Public support for persons with disabilities
  • Strong and effective safety net programs until universal solutions are implemented

Gala at the Glen Charity Event for Cystic Fibrosis

Gala at the Glen for Cystic Fibrosis - Kansas City Charity Event by Kansas City News

Saturday night at Shadow Glen Country Club the "Gala at the Glen" Charity fundraiser was held for The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of greater Kansas City.  Kansas City Cystic Fibrosis Chapter Board Member Beau Guyette headed this annual Kansas City charity event held at The Shadow Glen Country Club, and this year's charity gala was another HUGE success.

The Gala at the Glen charity event raised several thousand dollars this year that will go towards the advancement of Cystic Fibrosis research, patient care and hopefully an eventual cure.  Local Kansas City Chairman Beau Guyette gave a heart warming speech after dinner, highlighting the benefits of the Cystic Fibrosis organization and what it has done for millions of people including one of his young daughters.  The Gala on the Glen had a wonderful dinner, followed by entertainment by Kansas City dueling pianos, "The Dueling Piano Guys" , produced by Adam Blue Productions, who had everyone at the event on their feet and singing along.  The Dueling Piano Guys also generated over $1000.00 in tips which they donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The annual Kansas City charity event is one of the best galas of the year, and all that were in attendance that night had a wonderful time.  The patrons were very generous with their donations and they helped to make the Gala on the Glen a success for everyone, especially the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

More on The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation:

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis. We fund more CF research than any other organization, and nearly every CF drug available today was made possible because of Foundation support.

We are a nonprofit donor-supported organization dedicated to attacking cystic fibrosis from every angle. Our focus is to support the development of new drugs to fight the disease, improve the quality of life for those with CF, and ultimately to find a cure.
