Angel's Gala to Benefit The Children's Place Kansas City Charity

Tonight the downtown Marriott will be the venue for the 2014 Angel's Gala benefitting The Children's Place Kansas City charity organization.

This popular Kansas City charity fundraiser will begin tonight at 6pm with registration and cocktails, to be followed by a formal dinner at 7:30pm. Tickets are $200 per person or there are several sponsorship packages available as well. For tickets call 816-363-1898. Dinner will be followed by an auction to raise funding for The Children's Place and will be led by The Nigro Brothers auctioneering team. Several great items will be up for auction. The live auction will be followed by dancing to the upbeat sounds of The KC All Stars, Kansas City's hottest dance band, produced by Adam Blue Productions.

At some point in the night there will be a game of "heads or tails" played. To enter the heads or tails contest you must donate $50. This new game is very popular now among Kansas City charity fundraisers. All members of the audience who purchased a $50 entry ticket will stand up. A coin will be flipped and everyone standing will be asked to put their hands on their head, or on their "tail". Those who are on the winning side will remain standing. The last person standing will win the grand prize, a diamond / white gold bracelet valued at $6,000.00

Other auction items for the Angels' Gala benefitting The Children's Place include a trip to Cape Cod, several diamond seat packages for Royals games, a mystery dinner party, a suite for Justin Timberlake at the Sprint Center, a personal private chef for you and a party of 6 at your house, a Lake of the Ozarks golf vacation and more.

The Children's Place is a local Kansas City charity that is dedicated to nurturing and promoting the healthy development of children who have survived extreme abuse, neglect and severe trauma. The Children's Place has been in Kansas City since 1978.

Church of the Nativity Parish Fundraiser a Smash Hit in 2013

There's big time, and then there's even BIGGER time.  When it comes time for the Church of the Nativity to throw their annual fundraiser for their school The Nativity Parish School, the entire city of Leawood shows up to party. This year, the annual fundraiser hit it's highest mark in regards to donations raised and this was partly due to a change in entertainment for the event.  Instead of going with a regular cover band this year, The Church of Nativity got with the times and brought in The Dueling Piano Guys, a National touring dueling piano act based in Kansas City, Missouri.

Although the auctioneers at this event went on a little too long for most, and started to become a little irritating (there's only so much auctioneering rattle you can stand) - when the Dueling Piano Guys hit the stage  the party lit into action. In years past, many would leave the event after the auction, but not this year. The guests immediately packed the dance floor and stayed there for entire 75 minute performance. From making "human trumpets" out of some hand picked guys and gals from the crowd, to a roaring conga line, the dueling piano guys took this event to the next level performing today's hits mixed with hits from every generation.

The totals are not yet in for the amounts raised, but they are sure to be higher than previous years and the Nativity Parish School, located at 119th and Mission in Leawood, Kansas will be reaping the benefits of many generous prestigious members of the Leawood community's donations. Both the church and the school of the Nativity offer wonderful programs for people in the community of all ages, from the school children to adult groups, this organization offers something for everyone. For more information on The Church of the Nativity and the Nativity Parish School, visit their website at www.kcnativity.org

Check out the Conga Line at the charity event!
