Dallas Mavericks Win NBA Title

The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Miami Heat in game six of the 2011 NBA Finals, 105-95. The win gave Dallas its first title in franchise history, and gave future hall of famers Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd their first championship rings. Miami's Lebron James, hailed by many as the best player in the league, will have to continue his search for a title next season.

All season long, Miami has been the target of criticism, mostly from Lebron James' announcement that he was leaving Cleveland for Miami to how the team was constructed. With the finals over, most of the media again are turning their attention to James, Dwyane Wade and the Heat rather than giving the Mavs their due. Despite the talent on the Heat, Dallas was simply the better team this series. Nowitzki played better than any other player on the court, and his supporting cast gave him all the help he needed to pull off the upset. Give Dallas the credit it has earned - the Mavericks stood toe to toe with the most hyped NBA team in the league's history and played better basketball.

Despite the way the Finals ended, the Heat have to be the favorites to win the title next season. James and Wade are both superstars, and Miami got a big boost in the finals from young guard Mario Chalmers. If Miami can add another asset or two and continue to gel as a team, there is no reason why they can't win several titles in the future. The team got two wins away from the championship this season, and one would think they will be even better next year with more experience playing together.

While the future may belong to Miami, the title this season belongs to Dallas. The Mavs erased a bitter finals defeat to the Heat in 2006 and took down the biggest NBA's most dispised team. A fitting end to a wild and exciting NBA season.

LeBron James New Ad Attempts To Repair His Image

LeBron James is attempting to win back some fans with his new Nike Commercial. The ad portrays the controversial moments in James' life, from high school to the infamous decision, while also having some fun with a parody of Miami Vice. Throughout the piece, LeBron asks the viewer "what should I do?" while providing a list of possible decisions.

James' Nike ad is much more effective than Tiger Woods' video, in which the disgraced golfer tried to win back fans by using his deceased father. Many are claiming James ripped off Woods in the ad, however James' is more humorous and much longer. Nike writes the commercials, not the athletes, and James was likely doing whatever his PR team instructed him to.

While the ad does a good job of juggling both a sincere LeBron with the joking, fun-loving star we have seen in years, it fails to address why James has become so unpopular. It wasn't so much the decision James made, it was how he did it: using national TV and staging his back-stabbing of Cleveland in a Boys' and Girls' Club building. In the add LeBron asks "should I become a Villian?" and at this point, it might not be a bad idea.

Lebron James Decision to go to Miami Makes Sense

Bookmark and Share
Lebron James' decision to go to Miami makes sense.  After listening to the whining of all of the old school players, coaches and sports analysts - who claim that it hurts the game of basketball to lump all of the star players on one team (cough cough - the Lakers for the last 10 years), Miami still looks a hell of a lot better than frickin' Cleveland.

Before you judge or say one word..............have you ever actually BEEN to Cleveland, Ohio?  There is literally NOTHING pleasant or fun or even mildly interesting in that town.  It is a ghetto ridden, one cigarette at a time selling, metro bus riding, don't even think about walking around after dark city that makes you want to get on the earliest plane possible to get out.  Okay, now think about Miami.  Sunshine, beaches, the other kind of "beaches", and a community that in the last 2 years has put more momentum behind their sports programs than any other city in the United States.  Miami is FULLY dedicated to their sports teams.  Local celebrities (yes, Miami actually has celebrities that LIVE there) are all rallying around the Miami Dolphins like it was their job.

I love the energy that I'm seeing in Miami that has gathered around their sports organizations like a warm fire - or wait, they don't need a warm fire in Miami - the temperature is already perfect.  Miami will certainly be one of the top teams in the NBA with the addition of Lebron James, coupled together with Dwayne Wade and company, and his decision to make the move to Miami will prove to be very rewarding for everyone.  Everyone, that is, except Cleveland, Ohio.
