FBI Embarrassed by Westboro Baptist Church Meeting

Earlier this year, Westboro Baptist Church was invited to the FBI Training Center in Quantico, VA. NPR reported last week that the meetings were for training purposes, but were discontinued this spring after the Assistant Director of the FBI found out about the program and voiced concerns about having the church on their property. There has also been some public outrage since the news broke as well.

Other controversial groups, such as the Ku Klux Klan, have been invited to help with FBI training in the past. Law enforcement tries to learn as much as they can about the group and their point of view to be able to effectively deal with them and similar extremest groups in the future. This is not endorsing anyone's views, it's training. Much like learning about a serial killers thought processes to help stop the next one.

The bottom line is that the FBI trainers thought this might be helpful, and probably was. It would be better left out of the public eye, and WBC certainly doesn't deserve any more attention. But let's face it, they have not broken any laws, and their idiotic speech is protected by the First Amendment whether you like it or not.

FBI Investigates Kansas City Kansas Police Officers

The Kansas City, KS Police Department announced Tuesday night they they were launching an investigation into Police misconduct at the Department. They will be assisted in their investigation by the FBI, the Wyandotte County District Attorney, and the US Attorney's office. Little details have been divulged at this point, with Police Chief Rick Armstrong saying more details will be released in a few days.

Though not officially released, the information available seems to suggest a sting operation implemented by the FBI on Kansas City's SCORE team (SWAT). It is reported that after serving a warrant in KCK that at least six officers were handcuffed at the scene. Apparently, the FBI periodically will set up a scene with money, drugs, what have you to check up on the integrity of Police Officers.

I would guess that maybe some officers helped themselves to some "evidence" as it were. Wow, talk about ending a career. I hear former Police Officers get first rate treatment from other inmates in Prison. Good Luck Gentleman.

Helmet Man Sets Off Terrorist Investigation in Kansas city

Known to most Kansas City Chiefs fans as "Helmet Man", or even Edgar Sanchez, former terrorist informant Wahed Moharam charged into the State Building in downtown Kansas City freaking out and yelling out the question "why am I on the terrorist list?" and somehow alluding that there was a bomb in his car, which was parked in a handicap space near the State Building.

When the story first broke the news misquoted Helmet Man as saying the "he was a terrorist" but he did not say that, he simply demanded to know why he was listed as a terrorist on the FBI's watch list. In 1993 Wahed Moharam helped the United States capture 3 known terrorists connected with the World Trade Center bombing and was subsequently put into the witness protection program and given the name Edgar Sanchez. He moved to Kansas City and became an avid and outspoken Chiefs fan known to fans as "Helmet Man" donning an airbrushed helmet on his bald head and beating on a drum strapped around his neck. In 2003, his season tickets were revoked due to his being added to the FBI's Watch List as a precaution by Chiefs administration.

It seems that Wahed Moharam was very upset at the fact that he had helped out the United States government and then was somehow added to the FBI's Watch List and started having bad things happen to him, like losing his Chiefs season tickets. Helmet Man's car is still being searched after bomb sniffing dogs sent up an alarm, which in turn brought out the bomb seeking robot who found a hand gun but nothing else so far.

In another breaking story that happened right in the middle of this, a man drove into the Arrowhead Stadium parking lot, shot and injured a woman in a golf cart and then shot and killed himself.

Kansas City definitely made CNN today! We will keep you posted here at KCMB Kansas City News.

Three Kansas City Kansas Police Officers Indicted

We first told you in January about an alleged sting operation by the FBI where several Kansas City Kansas Police officers were arrested. It now becomes clear that a citizen filed a complaint last summer about officers stealing her property during the execution of a search warrant.

According to the Indictment, Tawana L Webster of Haskell Rd in Kansas City, KS was allegedly deprived of her Constitutional Rights to protection from seizure of her property without due course. In other words, the dirty pigs stole her shit while searching her house.

The Charged are:

Jeffrey M Bell
Darryl M Forrest
Dustin Sillings

All are charged with Conspiracy Against Rights carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years in Federal Prison and a $250,000 fine.

Bell and Forrest are also charged with Deprivation of Rights for last summer stealing a Camcorder and a Play Station Portable from Ms. Webster during a search at her residence. Punishable by 1 yr and $100k fine.

All three are charged with theft of Government property for the January sting operation set up by the FBI. Cash and Video games were left at an apparent search warrant site. Forrest took $300 in cash and two Nintendo DS games, Sillings took $340 in cash, and Bell took a Nintendo DS game and a piece of computer equipment.

These acts show a blatent disregard for the officers swarn duties. It's detrimental to community cooperation with law enforcement, and just plain wrong. I hope they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

At the very least, these guys need help for their video gaming addiction.

Burglar falls asleep while robbing a home in Wichita, Kansas. A homeless man was busy robbing a home in Southwest Wichita on Saturday when he decided he needed a shower and then a little nap. While this is completely understandable for a homeless person, it is not such a great idea if you're also a burglar on the job. The owners of the house came home to find the burglar sleeping in their bed, the burglar quickly tried to put on some clothes that belonged to the man of the house but eventually ended up hiding in the closet where Wichita police found him minutes later. Kansas City Airport Bomb Scare on the 10th Anniversary of September 11th. Former New York City Police officer, 45 year old Anthony Falco, Jr., was going through security at MCI airport on Sunday morning around 9:30am when airport security asked Mr. Falco if they could open up his carry on bag to search it. Falco told them that they could not search his bag and naturally airport security immediately detained Mr. Falco and found a mysterious device in his carry on bag. It was later determined that the mysterious items found were only spare computer parts and were not bomb related. Terminal B at Southwest Airlines was shut down for several hours while airport security, FBI agents, bomb sniffing dogs and other law enforcement officials redirected passengers waiting to board and go through security, causing several delays in flights on Sunday, September 11th. Chiefs former offensive lineman Brian Waters signed by the New England Patriots. 34 year old offensive line veteran Brian Waters left the Kansas City Chiefs in the off season, went home to work on his retirement plans and possibly do a little work on his lawn when he got a call from The New England Patriots. Waters was a part of what was arguably the best offensive line in Kansas City Chiefs history during the 90's and early 00's. It was reported that Waters left the Chiefs after butting heads with new head coach Todd Haley. In a recent interview Waters was asked if it was difficult leaving the Chiefs, "not really" was his response. September 13th, 2011 Kansas City News

Kidnapping and Bank Robbery in Overland Park

A bizarre story of kidnapping and bank robbery is unfolding in Overland Park this morning. According to Jim Weaver of the Overland Park Police Department, the victim, who is a 20yr old employee of the US Bank on 119th st near 69 Hwy, was abducted in the parking lot of his apartment complex last night. Supposedly, the robber/kidnapper took the man and his car to the bank early this morning where the employee opened up the bank and it was robbed.

The victim was found this morning by another employee opening up the bank at around 7:30AM. He had been beaten and was tied to a chair. An FBI spokesperson said the suspect is a white male, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds between 30 and 40 years old. He was last seen in a gray t-shirt driving the victim's light blue 2008 Chevy Aveo (nice car). No word on how much money was stolen.

This story sounds a little weird to me. An inside job maybe? In fact, I wouldn't at all be surprised if the "victim" in this case was also the perpetrator (or one of the perps). If I am wrong, this kid sure is lucky he wasn't killed. I'm sure we will know sometime in the near future. We will keep you posted here on Kansas City News.

NCAA Imposes Sanctions On Penn State

In the wake of a scandal that has shocked an entire nation, the NCAA has made its decision on how to punish Penn State University with its cover up of Jerry Sandusky’s sexual abuse of children. Penn State avoided the death penalty; one many thought it might receive similar to Southern Methodist University’s punishment for paying players in the 1980’s.

While it wasn’t the death penalty, the NCAA came down hard on Penn State. The following is a quick summary of the sanctions the NCAA will impose on Penn State:

• A $60 million fine to begin endowment for programs related to child abuse (equivalent of 1 year gross revenue).
• All wins from 1998 to 2011 must be vacated.
• Bowl ban and postseason ban for four years.
• Football scholarship reduction from 25 to 15 for 4 years.
• Any player may transfer and play for another school immediately.
• Athletic program will serve a five year probation.
• The NCAA reserves the right to impose sanctions on individuals following criminal trials.
• University must adopt reforms.

With his wins from 1998-2011 vacated, former coach Joe Paterno drops from 409 wins to 298, dropping him from first to 12th on the winningest NCAA football coach list. Penn State will also have six bowl wins and two conference championships vacated. While this may seem like an unfair punishment to all the innocent players who played on those teams, the NCAA does not want its all-time winningest coach associated with one of the most horrifying college sports scandals in American history. Penn State has already removed Paterno’s statue from outside Beaver Stadium in the wake of former FBI director Louis J. Freeh’s report that found that Paterno had concealed allegations of sexual abuse made against Sandusky.

In the past, the NCAA has been heavily criticized for the length of time it took to decide penalties at other schools. The NCAA took unprecedented measures to come to a swift ruling, bypassing many steps it has taken in the past to levy punishment at schools.

"Victim" in Overland Park Bank Robbery Arrested

The bank teller who claimed to be the victim in Wednesday Morning's robbery of the US Bank on 119th St is sitting in the Wyandotte County Jail this morning. Federal charges will likely be filed today. He and three other men are in custody awaiting the FBI. What a bunch of dummies, enjoy the next 10 years in prison fellas. Don't drop the soap!

I called this one on Wednesday when I heard the teller's story that was just too stupid to be true.

In other news of incredibly stupid people. A former Missouri Lottery winner was arrested in Florida for trying to sell a 9 week old baby. Patty Bigbee, formerly of Hazelwood, MO was arrested in a Best Buy parking lot by undercover officers. Bigbee, who has a long criminal history, won around a million dollars in Lottery two summers ago. Of course she blew it all. The woman she tried to sell the baby to was her biological daughter that she gave up for adoption.

The two had recently reconnected with each other on Facebook. (yet another reason not to use Facebook). The daughter thought she would be adopting her biological niece (Bigbee's Granddaughter), but then the subject of a $75,000 fee came up. That's when the Police were contacted. Police helped the woman negotiate a $30,000 fee, and arrested Bigbee when the exchange was supposed to be made. Bigbee, her boyfriend, and another daughter (the mother of the baby) are all in custody. What a bunch of White Trash Dirtbags.

Kansas City Ranked 9th Most Dangerous City in US

A new report that analyzed the past seven years crime statistics from the FBI has ranked Kansas City as the 9th most dangerous city in the United States. The study assigned a numerical value to each city based on the amount of property crimes and violent crimes reported. Kansas City scored a 337. a score of 100 would indicate average crime rate for all cities studied. Kansas City's score reflected a crime rate more than three times the national average.

St Louis ranked first (or worst - depending on how you look at it) with a score of 530 - Followed by Atlanta, Birmingham, Orlando and Detroit.

The report did note, however, that the overall rate of crime has dropped significantly in the last 20 years. The full report can be found at the US News and World Report Website.
