Chiefs Home Opener 2011 Bills

Our Kansas City Chiefs are poised and ready for the home opener on September 11th, 2011 at Arrowhead Stadium vs the Buffalo Bills. Although we a short one valuable tight end in Tony Moeaki, the Chiefs have yet to give us a real taste of what they have been working toward in the short off season and preseason. Of course we know that Jamaal Charles is going to get the ball early, but will the opposing defenses be keying so hard on him that it causes him to struggle, or God forbid fumble the ball several times. The Chiefs are looking to Thomas Jones to take some of the heat off of Charles as well as a shiny new passing attack line up in Steve Breaston and Jonathan Baldwin. Cassel, though not so keen on the long ball, will hopefully pass well enough to keep the chains moving, after all, he is the highest paid back up quarterback in the league.

On Sunday, September 11th, the NFL will honor the anniversary of this historic day 10 years ago when the twin towers were attacked in NYC. There should be a lot of chests swelling and an overall National sense of pride that takes over Arrowhead Stadium just before the game kicks off at 12 noon and hopefully the crowd at Arrowhead can help fuel the Chiefs drive towards success. There are a lot of great new things to look at and do at the new stadium including the Hy-Vee Quad, where local favorite band The KC All Stars will be performing. For some members there is also the Founder's Club where they will be featuring entertainment from Spike Blake from the dueling pianos fame. There are also numerous new display cases and monuments to Chiefs history, just be sure and get back to your seat before the fly over!

The Chiefs home opener 2011 vs. the Bills will be a day that we will remember for years to come.

Chiefs Roster Cuts 2011

This has to be a tough day for Chiefs coaches, it's always hard to fire someone. If you've never had to do it, you should consider yourself lucky because there is no easy way to take someone's job, life goal and dream away in a short meeting. But the Kansas City Chiefs must make roster cuts to get their roster down from 80 players to 53 by 5pm today.

So far, the Chiefs roster cuts include:

OL Chris Harr, Safety Reshard Langford, Linebacker Micah Johnson, Linebacker Pierre Walters, Guard Mike Ingersoll, Fullback Shane Bannon, and Tight End Charlie Gantt, Nose Tackle Harold Ayodele, Linebacker Justin Cole, Fullback Mike Cox, Defensive Tackle Dion Gales, Defensive Tackle Bobby Greenwood, Offensive Guard Darryl Harris, Wide Receiver Jeremy Horne, Linebacker Amara Kamara, Wide Receiver Quinten Lawrence, Offensive Guard Butch Lewis, Wide Receiver Zeke Markshausen, Tackle David Mims, Defensive End Luke Patterson, Defensive Back Ricky Price, Tight End Cody Slate, Nose Tackle Anthony Toribio, Wide Receiver Verran Tucker, Linebacker Pierre Walters, and Defensive Back Demond Washington.

Also, Tony Moeaki and Linebacker Gabe Miller have been placed on injured reserves.

This completes the Chiefs roster cuts for 2011.

Chiefs vs Packers 2011 Moeaki Injury

Moeaki Injury Torn ACL, Chiefs Preseason

Well we finally made it through the grueling Chiefs preseason. Although in retrospect it was by a stroke of luck that we had football going on at all, so in that light we'll take what we can get.

Thursday night's Chiefs vs Packers game was a little bit of a punch to the nose of most Chiefs fans. The Chiefs, usually content to do their best NOT to try in preseason games, not wanting to reveal anything to the opposition, made an unusual decision to attempt to win their final preseason bout with the Packers. They kept their starters in for almost the entire game except for Matt Cassell, Eric Berry, and Tony Moeaki and a few other players who limped off the field with minor and major injuries. We have just learned that Tony Moeaki is out and placed on IR with a torn ACL, making the Chiefs pathetic rumble with the Packers on Thursday a complete and utter disaster.

Why on earth would the Chiefs lay low all preseason, being very careful to avoid injuries, disappoint season ticket holders with boring game play, and then at the very end change their whole preseason mentality and play full force against a team that we could not beat if our lives depended on it. The Packers must have just been on the sidelines shaking their heads, wondering what the hell the Chiefs were doing out there. Even with all of the Chiefs starters in the game, minus the injured players, the Chiefs couldn't do anything against the 3rd and 4th string Packers line ups. We at Kansas City News predicted that Jamaal Charles was never going to live up to the hype that the media brought on this season, and he more than proved that on Thursday night. Charles fumbled the ball and ran miserably for 1 and 2 yards at a time, proving our theory that opposing defenses are keying on him and that he will SEVERELY underperform this season. Hopefully all of you fantasy football dorks were paying attention when we warned you about Charles and didn't go and draft him in the first round!

We were really pulling for Tyler Palko, but he was given ample time to prove his mediocrity on Thursday. This is just not the guy we want leading the team. Anytime he did make a throw that was caught, the receiver had to make some kind of super human effort to barely catch the poorly thrown balls. Rumor has it that the Chiefs will be looking for a veteran QB to sign as the back up for the league's highest paid back up QB Matt Cassell.
