Prairie Village Pastor Timmy Gibson Goes Homeless

A Prairie Village Pastor Chooses to go Homeless
by Kansas City News

Timmy Gibson, Pastor of Prairie Village's Mercy Church has opted to become homeless.  Gibson chose to become homeless starting tonight to raise awareness in Kansas City about our homeless problem.  The good Pastor will be making his way towards Westport tonight to find a place to sleep.  The temperature will drop to 27 degrees overnight so he definitely has his work cut out for him.

Gibson will be accompanied by his friend who was interviewed saying "I know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and that we will eventually be going home.  But I don't know how I would feel if I didn't know in the back of my mind that I would really be going home and that we weren't permanently homeless."

Timmy Gibson is a self proclaimed "regular guy" Pastor, keeping close to his roots in Kansas City and considers himself just one of the guys.  His choice to become homeless has already raised awareness in Kansas City about our ongoing homeless situation.  Gibson claims that the homeless in KC feel lonely, ashamed, dirty and the Pastor encourages us to share the gift of respect and love.  To find out how you can help Timmy and his homeless mission, visit the Mercy Church website .

One thing that I've always wondered about homeless people is why they don't migrate to a warmer city.  If I were to become homeless, I would make my way down to Florida.

About Pastor Timmy Gibson
from the official Mercy Church Website

As the founding pastor, Timmy brings vitality and passion to the vision of Mercy Church. His heart is to help people develop a healthy relationship with Jesus Christ through the ministry of the local church. Timmy was raised in church in Kansas City and never saw himself as the stereotypical “pastor” type; he still feels this way today. He has always had a desire to help people have better lives, and what better way than being a pastor. He graduated Bible College in 1994 with a Bible Degree and just a month after he graduated he married his college sweetheart, Jana, and they have two beautiful children, Shaeylea and Vandon. They enjoy life very much and love what they do here at Mercy Church.
