Kyle Orton Not Starting Palko Starts vs Bears

Todd Haley looks like he's been rode hard and put away wet, we've seen heroin addicts with more spunk and inspiring speech pathology. Haley has been getting pounded with the same question over and over in the past few days; who will you start vs the Bears on Sunday? The answer comes out as quickly as the question - "our starter is still Tyler Palko", and though we did pick up Kyle Orton he will remain the third or fourth option at quarterback for the lowly Chiefs. Tyler Palko has a career passer rating of 50.1, has thrown ZERO touchdowns in the NFL and has thrown 6 interceptions. Palko is easily the worst quarterback in the NFL, and Chiefs fans are baffled as to why he would remain the starting quarterback in the second half of an NFL season that is clearly all over for the Kansas City Chiefs.

By this time the only people who are paying attention to Chiefs news are the hard core Chiefs fans who watch the team's every move no matter how poorly the team is performing. Though not as sad as Royals fans who have to sit through a grueling 162 game season with a losing team who's owners will spend no money to improve the team, the Chiefs fans only have to suffer through 17 weeks of watching an underfunded team struggle against the current that is the NFL. Though it would seem that the Chiefs stand a better chance of going into history as world champions each year, it is actually the Royals who have won the championship most recently in 1985. The Chiefs haven't gone all the way since 1970, and do not look like they are going to return any time soon.

I remember a time in Kansas City when you never saw a Chiefs game turned on anyone's TV, but you always saw people tuning in to watch the Royals. Growing up in the 80's I don't even remember anyone EVER watching a Chiefs game. The first time that I became aware of who the Chiefs even were was when the Kansas City Police used to hand out Chiefs Cards to us kids (looking back it makes me wonder who's idea that was??). The Royals were so popular in Kansas City that people even listened to the game on transistor radios, sitting in lawn chairs in the driveway when the game wasn't televised.

The Chiefs are clearly the most popular sports team in Kansas City right now, but that can only be attributed to the fact that NFL football is just simply more fun to watch than baseball in general. HD television, increased advertising revenue, and perhaps a more violent society has contributed to the popularity of the NFL (now that would make a good topic for a thesis, "how a more violent society has led to the increased popularity of the NFL" - go ahead and use that one students if you need a topic). The Chiefs Tailgate parties are also a huge reason for the team's dedicated fan base, and the Chiefs invest a lot of money to insure that the tailgate parties flourish and that the Chiefs fans have a reason to keep renewing their season tickets each year even though the team cannot compete in the NFL.

The Chiefs look like they are probably going to end up going 5-11, or maybe 6-10. The defense looks decent, but with Tyler Palko at the helm they are in trouble. Kyle Orton might be able to bring something to the table, but without blocking up front, and Orton's lack of scrambling ability, he may not put up good numbers either. If you've even read this far into this article I commend you on your support of the flailing Kansas City Chiefs, or maybe you are just spacing off at work again...

Mizzou Takes Border War from KU One Final Time

In the final Border War between the MU and KU football squads, it was no surprise that Mizzou was victorious over KU once again on a chilly Saturday afternoon on November 26th, 2011 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. The Missouri Tigers effortlessly trampled the Kansas Jayhawks in a 24-10 victory to forever seal the vault on the Border War with a total victory record of 56-55-9 over KU since the Border War games started on October 31st, 1891. The MU / KU Border War was the longest living rival in football history, and it ended abruptly with the Mizzou victory on Saturday.

The reason that the Border War will cease to exist in the future is due to the recent announcement by Mizzou that it would be leaving the Big 12 for the SEC effective July 1st, 2012. KU fans were extremely upset with the decision by MU to leave the Big 12, and the city of Kansas City will certainly lose revenue with the loss of the annual game that would usually fill Arrowhead Stadium to capacity. In 2011, attendance was only 47,000 due to an absolutely pathetic KU football team, who only won a couple of games during the season and were expected to lose in embarrassing fashion to the dominating MU football team. MU fans showed up in droves and filled in their side of the stadium as usual, but KU fans pouted and decided to stay home instead of attend the game and be ruthlessly taunted by MU fans.

In 2012, Mizzou will move up to a better league in the SEC, and face more suitable rivals as KU was unable to provide much competition, losing the Border War series overall in the span of over 100 years. One reason that the MU / KU rivalry was so intense is that most KU fans live in the city of Overland Park, Kansas which directly "borders" the city of Kansas City, Missouri. Many bars would fill up along the border of the state line that divides Kansas and Missouri, where MU fans and KU fans would talk smack and taunt each other during the border war games, which almost always ended in an MU victory. This final Border War game was a great game overall, and ended a century-long rivalry between the Missouri Tigers and the perpetually over matched KU Jayhawks.

Marijuana Legal in Kansas City Rumors Continue

That's OK, Kansas City, we know that we are usually in the back of the pack when it comes to making changes or modernizing our city in any way. Rumors have surfaced once again that marijuana could become legal in Kansas City pending a few small hurdles. The latest rumor is that the state of Missouri is trying to legalize marijuana for those who are 21 and over. This would mean that it would be legal for legal citizens of Missouri to possess and use marijuana. It would obviously still be illegal for anyone to drive while under the influence of marijuana, but we're not sure on what the law would be pertaining to having marijuana on your person while driving, but not under the influence. It would be legal for anyone 21 and over for possess, purchase and use marijuana with basically the same applicable laws as alcohol.

This is NOT the same law as the "medical marijuana" law that has passed in other states, although Missouri is considering that law as well. For now, the state of Missouri is only focusing on making marijuana legal and like alcohol, only available for sale to those 21 and over. We're not sure where they would sell the marijuana, but it would no doubt be government controlled and operated in order for the state to make the most tax profits from the sale of the marijuana. Private merchants will probably be able to sell marijuana if they purchase a license to sell marijuana, which will no doubt be VERY expensive and probably require a thorough background check, etc. The state of Missouri isn't just going to hand out licenses to grow and sell pot without making you pay through the nose for a permit / license. As far as personally growing your own marijuana, you would probably have to have a permit for that as well, otherwise it would still be illegal.

It looks like we're getting close to legalizing marijuana across the board, but the government has to make sure that they have their hands in it and can make as much money as they can from the cultivation and sales through taxation. As we stand right now, Missouri has to obtain 140,000 signatures to propose the legalization of marijuana in Missouri, then the issue would be put to a vote. It is hard to say how Missouri would vote on the legalization of marijuana - remember that a lot of Missouri is still mostly hillbillies who are devout religious freaks and may raise a stink about it.

Kyle Orton Signs with Chiefs - Kansas City News

Today the Kansas City Chiefs must have decided that they did not trust Tyler Palko or Ricky Stanzi to take over quarterback duties for the injured Matt Cassel as they went to the "quarterback couch" and picked up Kyle Orton, formerly of the Denver Broncos, who was replaced earlier in Denver's season with backup quarterback Tim Tebow.

Kyle Orton was signed to a one year deal after only starting a handful of games for Denver in the 2011 NFL season, by popular demand from Denver fans, religious fanatic Tim Tebow was put into action early in the season. The Denver Broncos released Kyle Orton soon after and he has been on waivers ever since. This now leaves the Kansas City Chiefs with 4 quarterbacks including one Matt Cassel on injured reserve. Kyle Orton was a miserable 12 and 21 as a starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos, throwing 8434 yards, 49 touchdowns and 28 interceptions. Kyle is known for being an ultraconservative quarterback, rarely taking any chances down field, and stick to the dink and dunk passing. Orton usually throws the ball within about 10-15 yards of the line of scrimmage, which really won't be much of a change from Matt Cassel, who rarely threw the ball further than 20 yards or so.

The Chiefs will lose the mobility that Matt Cassel and Tyler Palko bring to the table and this may result in a tough outing for the slower and less elusive Kyle Orton. The Chiefs offensive line is questionable at best and due to a recent injury to star offensive lineman Ryan Lilja, they will be even less likely to effectively block for the quarterback. Matt Cassel and Tyler Palko were both running for their lives during the past few games due to the weak offensive line and with a slower quarterback in Kyle Orton this doesn't look good. It has not been announced yet whether Orton will start on Sunday night when the Chiefs take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on National TV, but since the Chiefs only have about 10 passing plays in the playbook, this should be a quick study for Kyle Orton.

All we can say to Kyle Orton is, be ready to be sacked - a lot.

Plaza Lighting Ceremony 2011 Kansas City

Whether you're ready for the holidays or not, they are upon us. Kansas City will be kicking off the festivities with the Plaza Lighting Ceremony 2011 on Thursday, November 24th at the Country Club Plaza.

Plaza Lighting 2015 Ceremony Info

The fun kicks off at 5:15pm with some pre-show entertainment from the same group of kids who performed last year. The lackluster "american idol / glee" style of performance was pretty lame and the only bright spot in the line up was the Dave Stephens Swing Orchestra who will unfortunately not be performing this year. The plaza lighting ceremony 2011 will be hosted by KSHB Chief Meteorologist Gary Lezak and his faithful dog Stormy. The actual switch to turn on the plaza lights will be thrown by Eric Stonestreet from the TV show "Modern Family" who is a Kansas City native who struck out to find fame in show business.

2011 marks the 82nd annual plaza lighting ceremony and the weather is supposed to cooperate, looking at a mild 45 degrees or so and dry. There will be over 300,000 people in attendance to watch the plaza lighting ceremony 2011 so you should try to get down to the plaza early enough to find a good place to park. We have provided a plaza lighting ceremony parking map below for your convenience:
There will be two fireworks displays this year. As usual, there will be a fireworks display on top of the Intercontinental Hotel and another fireworks display from behind the main stage in front of Halls. Have a good time welcoming in the holiday season at this year's plaza lighting ceremony 2011 and be safe driving!

Tyler Palko to Start for Injured Matt Cassel

It was officially announced today that Tyler Palko will be the starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs following last week's injury to starting quarterback Matt Cassel. Matt Cassel was tackled after a pass attempt and landed awkwardly on his right (throwing) hand, causing an injury which is possibly season ending.

In his career with the Kansas City Chiefs, Tyler Palko has played in 4 games and thrown for 82 yards on 13 attempts with 0 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. Tyler Palko
was drafted as an undrafted free agent in 2007 by the New Orleans Saints. Palko then signed with the Arizona Cardinals, and then the Pittsburgh Steelers before landing in Kansas City in 2010.
Tyler Palko earned the position of 2nd string quarterback over rookie Ricky Stanzi during the 2011 preseason during which Palko proved to be the better man for the job. Palko was allowed to play the entire second half in the last game of the Chiefs preseason vs the Green Bay Packers. It is thought by many Chiefs fans that Palko earned the job of 2nd string quarterback through his knowledge of the playbook, as Ricky Stanzi is a rookie and has not mastered the system yet.

Palko will get his first NFL start on Monday Night Football vs the New England Patriots on November 21st, 2011. Although he is left handed, and thus more creative, he has yet to show this on the field. Many Chiefs fans agree that the change at quarterback from Matt Cassel to Tyler Palko is not going to impact the Chiefs performance as Cassel has been unsuccessful at leading the team thus far.

Community Gardens in Kansas City Prairie Village

Here's a refreshing new idea that a few people in the Kansas City area have come up with, Community Gardens. It reminds us older folks of the old Victory Gardens that Americans cultivated during World War I and again during World War II (I guess they skipped Korea and Vietnam for some reason). The new community gardens in Kansas City, Prairie Village, Overland Park, Leawood and other kc neighborhoods will inspire people who live in the same neighborhoods to meet and work together on a project that will serve the community as a whole. People from their own neighborhoods can get together and plant vegetables, fruits and even flowers if they like in an effort to bring a sense of togetherness and productivity to the neighborhood.

Community garden benefits are great indeed as they give neighborhood dwellers a sense of accomplishment, charity and good old fashioned hard work. The gardens will inspire those with sedentary lives to get out of the house and out from in front of the TV to go out and participate in something that will provide healthy produce, and develop good relationships with their neighbors. Community gardens have also proven to reduce the waste of fossil fuels in communities since it cuts down slightly on having to drive to the store. Several community gardens are erupting in the Kansas City area, Prairie Village, Leawood, Overland Park and other Kansas City neighborhoods. To find out where the nearest community garden is to you, contact your homes association president, or you can visit the Kansas City community garden Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kansas-City-Community-Gardens/104884273684

The fact that Kansas City and surrounding neighborhoods are beginning to embark on raising
community gardens is a wonderful sign that Kansas City is starting to come together as a
community and provide food for ourselves instead of relying on trucks and big corporations
to spoon feed us our food. These community gardens should get more people together as
friends and neighbors while providing a worthy cause to their immediate sectors. Food
grown in the gardens can be consumed by the community or they can be donated to charity
organizations like Harvesters, etc.

Community gardens are one of the best ideas that we here at Kansas City News have heard
of in a long time. Good on ya!

Legends Shopping Center Defaults on Loan

The shopping center in "the hood" located in the heart of the ghetto neighborhood of Kansas City, Kansas is having trouble keeping it's doors open. There wasn't much surprise that the Legends Shopping Center was having a hard time keeping up with other shopping centers located in more wealthy neighborhoods like Zona Rosa in the wealthy little nook of Briarcliff, Kansas City where they have tried very hard to recreate the lavish Leawood, Kansas and the Town Center Plaza Shopping Center located in Leawood. Although the Legends should get some help from the nearby Hollywood Casino that will be opening in February, it will still consist mostly of white trash people coming in from Cabella's (the store where they sell things to kill animals with), and of course the white trash mecca of the universe, Nebraska Furniture Mart. The Hollywood Casino will bring in a whole new group of rural country folk and the typical NASCAR fan, hillbilly types. In light of this, the chubby female staff at the Legends Shopping Center should consider catering towards the country folk, maybe a western wear store, a honky tonk bar with a mechanical bull, etc. Good stuff.

The company that holds the loan for The Legends shopping center said that they were going to "draw up a new loan plan for The Legends" in light of their recent loan default. Surely with the combined hillbilly draws of The Nebraska Furniture Mart, Cabella's, the NASCAR track, and finally the Hollywood Casino, The Legends Shopping Center should be able to get back on it's feet. Maybe that area should just go all the way and open up a large truck stop type motel and restaurant like Love's Truck Stop, that would put the icing on the white trash cake for that area.

We will keep you posted on The Legends Shopping Center in Kansas City and the state of their financial situation. As of now, since the center is being run by overweight women, it has been built to cater to overweight women, but if they can convert it to a rural hillbilly attraction I think that they will strike gold and get more business. Ooh! Maybe a new Silver Dollar City! Now that would be a great idea, it could be like the new Branson, Missouri out there - yeeeee-hawww!

Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts Open for Business

The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts is open for business and was alive and kicking in Kansas City! Recently we covered an event at the new event center that featured Kansas City's dueling pianos and was sponsored by Bank of Kansas City with entertainment by Bands for Hire Live!

The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts is an incredible feat of architecture, designed by architect Moshe Safdie, acoustician Yasuhisa Toyota and theater consultant Richard Pilbrow. Kansas City construction fat cats J.E. Dunn Construction Group got the gig to build the center. The total cost of the center was $413 million with another $40 million lumped on the side to operate the center for a period of time until it may or may not support itself financially. The Kauffman Center is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, although I can guarantee that a lot of people are making plenty of money off of it's existence.

On the particular night that we were there, the Bank of Kansas City had rented out the Kauffman Center and were having their holiday party. The night was very special due to the immense vision of the Kauffman Center as the absolute center of attention. When you rent out the Kauffman Center for an event, you don't need to provide anything more than a bar and some passed hors d'oeuvres to make the evening magical. They went the extra mile at this event, however, with an incredible performance by Kansas City's dueling pianos, who got the entire crowd up on it's feet and singing along and dancing all the way up until the end of the event.

There are two separate theaters within the 7 story Kauffman Center. Both theater rooms were open for viewing on this night until the Kansas City Orchestra closed one of the rooms to have an extended rehearsal. The room that we did get to see was the red velvet seated Muriel Kauffman Theater, which is pictured here. The entire building is absolutely the most impressive building in Kansas City and we hope to visit again soon.

School District Loses 3 Cabinet Chiefs in Kansas City

The members of the Kansas City School District are jumping ship as it slowly sinks into the water. It was announced today that Chief of Finance Rebecca Lee-Gwin, Chiefs of Curriculum Mary Esselman and Chief Academic officer MiUndrea Prince are quitting the School Board in the wake of the Kansas City School District losing it's accreditation. For a map of the Kansas City School District see photo.

The panic will probably not end here as there is talk of dissolving the entire school board and installing a state controlled commission. Board member Arthur Benson gave a statement that he believes that the state is undermining the actions that the board has been taking to steer the Kansas City School District back on the right path. Most board members who are jumping ship are headed to Detroit, where they are putting together a state controlled school board to overtake leadership of Michigan schools that are in the dumpster.

The Kansas City School District cannot succeed because it is rooted too deeply in the ghetto, where kids know more about rappers, cell phones, gold chains, tennis shoes, guns and petty larceny than they do about math, science and history. Few to none of the schools located within the Kansas City School District are in good neighborhoods, the last one being Southwest High School, which is located in the semi good neighborhood of Brookside - the only problem is that in the case of Southwest High School, all of the residents of the immediate neighborhood are terrified to send their children to that school and opt to pay premium costs to have their children sent to private schools instead. There is no arguing with the facts, however, and you can't blame the residents of Brookside for avoiding Southwest High like the plague, the police were called to that school over 50 times in just 3 months for violence, arson, and other ghetto thug crimes. I wouldn't send my children anywhere NEAR a Kansas City public school, and the people of Brookside seem to agree.

Education of Kansas City's children starts at home people. If you are feeding your child McDonald's, Pizza Hut and Kentucky Fried Chicken 3 or more times a week for dinner, letting them watch rap videos with Jigs grabbing their nuts and treating women like prostitutes, and having no male role models around them to teach them the value of a hard days work, then your children are probably going to grow up fighting the system and performing poorly in school. Those are the cold hard facts. I'm sure that the parents of children attending Kansas City public schools are whining and complaining like the Democrats always do, that something is wrong with the system and it's the city or the state's fault (another Democrat reasoning), but let us here at Kansas City News wake you up a little bit: If you're child is failing classes at ANY school, it is YOUR fault as a parent. Sit that child down and make sure that they do their homework, it's that simple folks, it really is. Quit blaming the city, state and your country for your own laziness - get off your butt and do something for your children and then maybe the test scores for the city as a whole will improve and the Kansas City School District can regain it's accreditation.

Mizzou Leaving Big 12 for SEC July 1st 2012

After weeks of talk radio talk and rumors, it was finally announced today that Mizzou is leaving the Big 12 for the SEC on July 1st, 2012. There have been many speculations about the MU move, and fans have many different reactions to Missouri leaving the Big 12. Most of the more heated comments have been in reference to the MU - KU rivalry and what Mizzou's move to the SEC will do to that rivalry and the subsequent revenue losses that may occur in Kansas City and in Lawrence because of the MU move from the Big 12.

Kansas basketball head coach Bill Self was quoted today saying that "KU doesn't give a flip about whether or not KU plays Missouri" - and that is ok considering that the MU / KU rivalry really only exists in football, not basketball. KU is usually superior in basketball and usually loses severely to Mizzou in football every year. The Border War game at Arrowhead Stadium does not look like a possibility for 2012 as KU is trying to play down the MU move to the SEC as much as they can. In typical KU fashion, they are jealous that MU is getting more attention than they are, and they are making few if any comments about the future of the MU / KU rivalry that has existed since 1891, making it the longest living college rivalry in history. KU will maintain their history of putting black players on the basketball team but hoping that they don't sit next to them in the stands. Watch a KU basketball game on TV sometime and watch the home crowd at KU - all white people. The only black people at a home KU game are on the court. KU is so hypocritical and Anglo-Sax to the max. We really don't care what they think about Mizzou leaving the Big 12 for greener pastures anyway - they can just keep losing every football game just like they are doing now.

Mizzou, after leaving the Big 12 will face new rivals in the SEC, and a much more difficult schedule, with opponents in Alabama and Florida and other blue ribbon college teams. MU football has always produced pro players such as Jeremy Maclin so they will continue to do so in the SEC with no problem. The only financial loss that may come to the Kansas City area will be at the Sprint Center, but they are not based in Kansas City anyway, with all of their profits going to Maryland, home of Cordish who owns everything in the Power and Light District. It's just unfortunate that KU didn't just pick up their whole university and move it to Alaska somewhere - now THAT would have been a much better move. But, as Kansas City will find out next year, MU will continue to flourish and be a great new addition to the SEC, who officially welcomed them today.

Catholic Charities Celebration of Hope 2011 Gala

The 2011 Catholic Charities Celebration of Hope Gala at the Muehlbach Hotel Grand Ballroom was a SMASH HIT last night, November 5th. This is one Kansas City charity group that knows how to party! The ballroom was donned with a simplistic yet elegant decor and guests dined while watching a slideshow of sponsors and programs that are a big part of the Catholic Charities charity organization.

The Celebration of Hope 2011 Gala featured a delicious dinner, incredible works of art including pieces by Kansas City artist Bill Drummond, who's artwork was displayed throughout the ballroom and foyer. After dinner, the charity event and auction raised in the neighborhood of $200,000 towards the charity which helps the community in numerous ways (see below for more specific information about the Catholic Charities of Kansas City). The evening was capped off with entertainment from Kansas City's Dueling Piano act Roll Over Beethoven sponsored by Adam Blue Productions. The dueling pianos had everyone up and dancing early and all of guests had a great time. The dueling piano guys got all of the ladies up on the stage to sing "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey and they did a great job! Then Joe Kelly was coaxed up on the stage to be a "human trumpet" during a Johnny Cash song and then "Sweet Caroline".

UFO Sightings Kansas City 2011 Kansas City News

Here at Kansas City news we run into all sorts of reports of UFO sightings in and around Kansas City, and occasionally we also get some great photos. We liked the one on the right so well we decided it had to go up immediately :)

Though this particular UFO sighting took place in Florida, we like the photo well enough to include it in our Kansas City News archive of UFO sighting photos from KC. Too bad all of the UFO sighting photos can't look like this one! Thank you to our friends in Vero Beach, Florida for sending that photo in.

Latest sightings in Kansas City include two sightings in Smithville over the lake. At or around 10pm on Thursday night November 3rd, 2011 two separate reports came in from Smithville, Missouri about an odd shaped round silver colored disc hovering over the lake about 200 - 300 feet in the air. The strange disc floated above the lake for about 30 seconds and then took off making a "whirring" sound according to one couple who witnessed it, and the second report of the incident confirmed the strange whirring sound as well. The UFO was lit around the edges with white lights but was not rotating or spinning in any way. Both reports said that the UFO was just hovering very still over the lake, and didn't make any significant movement until it took off heading due South and upward. The visibility at Smithville Lake is great, we've been out there several times back in the days when Groove Agency used to perform at the Smithville Marina! We weren't lucky enough to have any UFO sightings on those nights, but if you live or party at Smithville Lake, be sure and take a look up in the sky every once in awhile and make sure that you're not being watched!

We appreciate all of your emails and if you have a UFO sighting to report in the Kansas City area please email us at kansascitynews@gmail.com and thank you!

UFO Sighting Kansas City October 2011

Thank you so much for all of your recent submissions for UFO sightings in Kansas City 2011, out of all of them, we liked the photo we received to the left of a UFO spotted and photographed in the area of highway 50 and 291 highway near Lee's Summit. It appears to be either one large craft with several lights and sections, or several small craft in formation. Either way this was a great photo of the UFO sighting, looks like they almost didn't get the camera out in time! We did not use any formatting on this photo - we left it as is.

UFO sightings in Kansas City increased exponentially in October 2011 with nearly 300 sightings reported in the Kansas City, Lee's Summit and Raytown areas in particular. Most sightings were reported between 6pm and 8pm, and there were several different types of UFOs spotted. We have had sightings of large, looming, dark craft that hovered hundreds of feet off the ground in plain sight just off the highway above traffic below, and then suddenly whoosh off into the night sky at speeds of over 500 miles per hour and completely disappear from sight. We have had UFO sightings that were comprised of several smaller craft flying in formation that had green lights and what might be described as yellowish "windows" on top flying right along a deserted road in the rural areas of Raytown.

Many UFO sightings were reported but the most by a landslide were reported in October. For some reason, the aliens decided to visit Kansas City in October this year. We're not sure what the correlation might be, but this October was hot with UFO sightings all around the KC area. In a previous UFO sightings in Kansas City report we noted that most of the sightings occurred between October 3rd and October 7th, and most of them near Lee's Summit, MO. We were actually on the phone with one couple who was traveling down 470 highway when they spotted a small formation of strange triangular aircraft, flying about 1000 feet in the air to the East of the highway, heading North toward downtown. The couple said that the craft were small triangles with blue and almost silver colored lights that blinked on and off in a pattern of sorts. After about 30 seconds in sight, the little triangles disappeared into the night in a blast of what they described as "light speed". This was on October 7th, 2011, at around 7:30pm, about the time that we decided that we had better start reporting these sightings in the news. Please keep your submissions of UFO sightings in Kansas City coming to us at kansascitynews@gmail.com and keep watching the skies!
