Colts Losing on Purpose Suck for Luck

Is there any doubt that the Indianapolis Colts are losing on purpose so that they can get the first round draft pick? Why is no one calling them out on this in the NFL media? The owner, the head coach, and a few other key members of the Colts management are throwing games on purpose. Obviously the players could not be "in" on the plan because they could not be asked to make mistakes intentionally, as it would hurt their statistics and future value. But here at Kansas City News, we're going to tell you how an NFL team throws games without letting the players in on it:

Play calling. It's as simple as that - play calling. The Colts are calling plays that will guarantee failure. Running plays up the middle that have absolutely no chance of gaining yards are the Colts staple plays this season. Every once in awhile a running back will break out of the pack, but believe me, this is NOT by design. The running back simply gets a break and takes advantage. Watch the Indianapolis Colts play calling and notice these hopeless runs into traffic. As for the passing, you might notice that Reggie Wayne has only been targeted less than 10 times in over 3 games. That is very interesting considering that he used to be Peyton Manning's number 1 or number 2 look on any passing play last season. Curtis Painter is only given the green light to throw up a few long passes, but mostly he is called upon by his coach to throw little dink and dunk passes to receivers who are running short routes.

Other ways the Indianapolis Colts are losing on purpose for the first round draft pick include defensive calling. The defense of the Colts are not blitzing. In previous seasons, opposing teams would be treated with the one - two punch pass rush of Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney.
Not the case this season, since star quarterback Peyton Manning went out for the season or possibly for good, the Colts defense are playing a very generic 3-4 defense and are simply not stopping their opponents.

The Colts are not necessarily losing on purpose to get upcoming quarterback Andrew Luck, they are just losing on purpose to get the first pick, which they may choose to trade to another team for more draft picks or to use as leverage to another means. The Colts are playing dirty pool and if you can't see that, then you probably can't see the nose on your face either.

Uh oh, it recently came to out attention that some people feel that the owners and coaches would not put their players in a position that my result in injuries. Yeah, right, do you really think that the Indianapolis Colts would let any of their star players get injured? And do you think that they care about any non-star players that get injured - uh, no. Dismiss that thought immediately, they are losing on purpose, period.

Cardinals Win 2011 World Series

Red Birds WIN! The St. Louis Cardinals have defeated the Texas Rangers in the 2011 World Series. The Texans had several chances to close the door on the red birds, but the Cardinals hung on by a thread at home to eventually win game 6 and force a game 7 in which the Texas Rangers didn't even show up. The Cardinals didn't need the Rally Squirrel for game 7. The Rally Squirrel, by the way, now has his own Facebook page.

Game 6
Baseball critics and analysts alike are already calling game 6 a game of legendary proportions. The Cardinals trailed the Rangers for almost the entire game, all the way up until the 9th inning. With the score 7-5 Rangers in the bottom of the 9th inning, 2011 World Series hero David Freese hit a 2 run RBI triple to tie the game at 7-7. In the 10th inning the Rangers put up two more runs on a two run homer by Josh Hamilton, only to have the Lance Berkman tie the game again with an RBI single to make the score 9-9 after 10 innings. Inning number 11; enter the hometown hero, born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, 3rd baseman David Freese steps up in the bottom of the 11th inning and gleeks the ball into the grassy knoll in straight away center field - WALK OFF HOME RUN!! Say goodnight Gracie, the Cardinals are heading to game 7 at home.

Game 7
In the World Series, a lot of the attention goes to the offense, the batters, the home run hitters, the base runners. But in the end, a great pitcher will eventually emerge, and silence the offense of the opposing team, and thus claiming the victory for his brothers. That pitcher was Chris Carpenter. Game seven was simply dominated by the Cardinals as the Texans couldn't produce any offense due to the extraordinary pitching by Chris Carpenter. Carpenter pitched seamlessly through 6 innings and one batter into the 7th, who hit a double. Although we questioned Cardinal manager Tony La Russa's decision to pull Carpenter, we cannot question the ways of the master. The Cardinals rallied behind their pitching staff sealed the win with a 6-2 World Series victory.

Chiefs Chargers Monday Night Arrowhead

Halloween night at Arrowhead Stadium will feature a rivalry bout between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Diego Chargers. The Chiefs have a chance to to share a piece of the lead in the AFC West if they can best the Chargers on Monday night football. The Chiefs defense has looked very strong of late and this game will be a battle to the finish. The Chargers offense, by contrast, has looked terrible lately with QB Philip Rivers barely able to complete a single pass. Brandon Flowers and the Chiefs secondary have been shredding opposing QBs with interceptions and pick six touchdown plays.

Arrowhead Stadium will be full of ghosts and ghouls as fans will dress up for Halloween, there will be live music by The Shanks and Almost Kiss, presented by Adam Blue Productions and lots of great tailgating. Tickets will probably be easy to find, however, as many parents will be taking their kids out trick or treating and missing the game. I doubt that many children are going to be talked out of going trick or treating to go to a Chiefs game. So here at Kansas City News we're predicting that it will be easy to purchase scalped tickets outside Arrowhead Stadium prior to the game.

The only monsters that Philip Rivers is going to see will be named Tamba Hali and Derrick Johnson as they mercilessly rush the pocket. If the defensive line can get penetration in the pocket it gives the Chiefs secondary a better shot at making plays on errant passes. The main concern for the Chiefs will be their offense. They will need Thomas Jones and Jackie Battle to step up and control this game with the run. We do not want to get into a "shoot out" situation with the Chargers, but rather keep the ball on the ground, run the clock and control the time of possession.

Chiefs Defense 2011 Improving

Well hello Kansas City, I do believe that we have a defense! This Sunday's Chiefs Raiders game only solidified the proof that the Chiefs can hold their own in the trenches on the defensive side of the ball. Although the Chiefs have historically been regarded as a tough defensive team, especially at home, it has been over a decade since the defense has been anything over average. The last good Chiefs defense was during the Derrick Thomas + Neil Smith era back in the late 90's, when opposing quarterbacks ran for their lives from the Chiefs defensive line and the spider bite attack of Derrick Thomas from the right and Neil Smith from the left. After Sunday's slaughter over the Chiefs rival Oakland Raiders it is becoming clear that the Chiefs are turning once more into a defensive team.

The most important thing about the Chiefs defense right now is that they are playing like a unit. At the end of last year and at the beginning of this year it was like "hey, look how good Tamba Hali is, and look how great Eric Barry is" - but now it is clear that other members of the defense are stepping up. Brandon Flowers had an incredible game vs the Raiders on Sunday with two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown (talking smack to quarterback Carson Palmer the whole way into the endzone). Derrick Johnson continues to be a force at linebacker, seemingly involved in every play and tackle, and was personally responsible for the Chiefs goal line stop against the Raiders, who used all 4 downs trying to penetrate the end zone, and Derrick Johnson personally stopped 3 of those attempts. "Law Dog" Jon McGraw is playing out of his mind lately and had a great heads up interception on a tipped pass in the 2nd half, sealing the Raiders fate.

The Chiefs defense is going to be crucial next Monday night vs the Chargers at Arrowhead, when the Chiefs will be playing to land a 3-way tie for first place in the AFC West.

Chiefs Raiders 2011 Rivalry Game

It's as good as it's going to get for the Kansas City Chiefs right now vs. the Oakland Raiders this Sunday as the Raiders are limping around on a hobbled quarterback position. Recently, the Oakland Raiders lost their starting quarterback Jason Campbell to a painful collar bone snap, and this left them with their less-than-proven backup in Kyle Boller. As expected, the Raiders quickly snapped up Carson Palmer from the Bengals, which was an easy task considering that Palmer had told the Bengals at the beginning of the year that he would "not set foot inside Paul Brown Stadium again" and he also stated that he "has 80 million dollars in the bank" and that he does not have to play football for money any more.

It was speculated in the beginning looking at the Chiefs Raiders 2011 rival game that Carson Palmer would not be ready to participate in the game, but now sources are not ruling out the possibility. This leaves the Chiefs in an interesting position as the Raiders are forced to choose between a sub-par quarterback in Kyle Boller to start or a quarter back in Carson Palmer who has literally been on the Raiders for less than one week and with no time to prepare would be a risky start. Who will start at QB for the Raiders vs the Chiefs on Sunday? We will keep you posted...

The only thing we can focus on right now is what we do know:

Darren McFadden can REALLY run the ball. We have to stop him. Matt Cassel and the Chiefs passing game has been in a brief renaissance period and we need that to continue. We've got to get Steve Breaston involved across the middle and get some tasty passes up top for Dwayne Bowe. Finally, we're going to have to run the ball. Hopefully Jackie Battle can put up similar numbers to his performance last week and Thomas Jones can bash through the Oakland Raiders defensive line for some crucial 3rd down conversions. There are two X factors at play in this rivalry match up as well; Tamba Hali and Derrick Johnson need to create an extremely uncomfortable environment for whoever the Oakland QB is, cause turnovers and stop the run. The other X factor is a hobbled Janikowski, the Raiders kicker, who is trying to recover from a hamstring injury. There is no need to mention that the kicking game usually comes into play when the Chiefs play the Raiders.

St. Lukes Mid America Heart Institute Grand Opening

This Sunday St. Luke's Hospital will have an open house for the grand opening of the Mid America Heart Institute, a brand new, state of the art heart facility that will employ 60 new doctors and surgeons, over 100 hospital beds and the latest in heart care equipment. The $330 Million dollar expansion has been years in the making and will replace the old Mid America Heart Institute, that building will become the new brain and stroke center.

Sunday's events will run from 1pm - 5pm, unfortunately smack in the middle of the Kansas City Chiefs game. The initial plan was to hold the open house and grand opening on Saturday, but the powers that be at St. Luke's are mostly Jewish and that would have interfered with Yom Kippur or something like that. So, they will be having it on Sunday, October 9th instead - during the Chiefs game.

Entertainment will be going all day for guests all ages including an appearance by Radio Disney, Darryl Terrell, Liverpool, Ida McBeth, and the grand finale will be a live performance by The KC All Stars. The new building will have an entrance directly off of Broadway and will be open to the public starting at 12 noon on Sunday. St. Luke's new Mid America Heart Institute is a welcome new addition to the excellent health care program and will surely save many lives in Kansas City in the years to come.

UFO Sightings in Lee's Summit Kansas City

Kansas City News has been following up on the latest UFO sightings in Lee's Summit and Kansas City over the past week. The photo at the left is the only one that has been sent in so far but we should have more UFO photos soon. For 5 consecutive days / nights now, hundreds of people in Lee's Summit and Kansas City have reported UFO sightings. They describe the sightings as UFOs ranging from orange orbs to odd looking formations, and objects with white and green lights all flying around 3000-5000 feet in the air. The sightings seem to be occurring around dusk and early night - from around 5pm to 9pm for the most part. We just had another call come in as we were working on this of a UFO sighting in Raytown where they were able to capture the footage below:

The footage clearly shows a UFO hovering in place above the street, and it is right on par with the other recent sightings in Raytown and Lee's Summit in that the UFOs are flying right over major highways and streets. One account on Wednesday reported a large triangle shaped UFO that flew along highway 50 (Lee's Summit) and then darted away at a speed of approximately 300 miles per hour, then came to a complete and sudden stop over what looked like downtown Lee's Summit, Missouri. The UFO was described as having white, green and blue lights on the bottom of it and the lights seemed to be flashing in a pattern. The same witness also noted that there were at least 2 helicopters in the immediate area at the same time.

Another recent sighting in Lee's Summit occurred tonight at around 7:15pm. The couple was heading down 470 Highway and spotted something that looked like a military formation, but they quickly they realized that these aircraft weren't like any military craft that they had seen before. The UFO sighting was a formation of 6 craft that were flying due North at around 300-400 mph and they did not stop or perform any maneuvers and they flew quickly out of sight. Hundreds of UFO sightings in Kansas City and Lee's Summit are happening this week, I wonder what is going on?

Here at Kansas City News, we will keep watching the sky and keep you posted!

If you have any Kansas City UFO sighting reports please email them to us at kansascitynews@gmail.com

Lisa Irwin Missing Infant Search Continues

The search continues today for missing 10 month old infant Lisa Irwin. The missing toddler was last seen sleeping in her crib at 10:30pm on Monday night at her home at 3600 N Lister Avenue in Kansas City.

Lisa Irwin was reported missing by her father when he returned home from work at 4am Tuesday morning. Police are extremely concerned because in this case both of the parents are accounted for and both reported Lisa missing. Usually in a missing child case such as this, one of the parents is involved, but in this case both parents have been extensively grilled by police and both are cooperating fully. An Amber Alert was issued initially but has since been cancelled. 30 detectives still remain on the case, continuing the search near the child's home. Police fear that Lisa Irwin was abducted via a window in her bedroom and could very well be several miles away by now. The search party is using search dogs at this point in hopes of picking up a trail of Lisa Irwin and her abductor. Police are responding to leads but said that no hard leads have come in on the case. Surely the police are interviewing family members from inside the family circle to the outer circle as in a case like this, the kidnapper is usually someone who knows the family and the missing child. Certainly a 10 month old toddler cannot just get up and walk outside and disappear, at least she wouldn't have gotten that far away - this is almost definitely a kidnapping case and Lisa Irwin has probably been transported by car miles from away from her home.

Police urged anyone with information about the girl's whereabouts to immediately call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-8477.

Lisa Irwin has blue eyes and blond hair, is 30 inches tall and weighs 26 to 30 pounds. She was last seen wearing purple shorts and a purple shirt with white kittens on it, police said. The child has two bottom teeth and a beauty mark on her right outer thigh. Her parents said she also has a cold with a cough.

Suck For Luck Campaign 2012

For those of you who don't know, the Suck for Luck campaign 2012 is a competition in the NFL to be the worst team in the league in the 2011 season (thus "suck") in order to get the number 1 draft position for the 2012 season and potentially draft Stanford University super star quarterback Andrew Luck (thus "luck"). So basically, many fans of teams in the NFL who are struggling are hoping to just lose ALL of their games for the rest of this season in order to get the number 1 draft pick in 2012. The main reason for this is because the fans of the losing NFL teams believe that all of their problems will be solved by getting a new quarterback, mainly Andrew Luck.

There are a few reasons that the Suck for Luck campaign has emerged -
most teams in the NFL who are "sucking" right now are probably blaming their quarterback. The quarterback position has the biggest magnifying glass on it, and fans are quick to put the blame on the quarterback when their team loses. The quarterback's mistakes are the easiest to spot, especially for fans who don't know the ins and outs of the game. If you know a little bit about football, then you understand a few of the other issues that can make the quarterback look bad, like the offensive line, for instance. If the offensive line isn't doing it's job, the quarterback is not being protected, has to scramble around, and basically has a hard time getting into a rhythm. The Suck for Luck campaign has emerged as a result of frustrated fans who are unhappy with their team and truly believe that all of their problems will be solved if they draft Andrew Luck and replace their current quarterback.

Many Kansas City Chiefs fans have signed on to the Suck for Luck campaign and in an interview today 810 sports asked quarterback Matt Cassel if he had heard of the campaign to which he replied that "this is the first I have heard of it" - which may or may not be the truth. As it stands, the Suck for Luck campaign stands as follows:

Minnesota Vikings - Record = 0-4
Miami Dolphins - Record = 0-4
St. Louis Rams - Record = 0-4
Indianapolis Colts - Record = 0-3

Stay tuned for more Suck for Luck news!

Chiefs Vikings 2011 Kansas City News

We hate to say it, but this game might actually be a win for the Kansas City Chiefs vs the Minnesota Vikings, who suck almost as bad as the Chiefs. Now remember, we do not WANT to win due to the ongoing "Suck for Luck" campaign in which we must LOSE every possible game this season in order to acquire super star quarterback Andrew Luck in the 2012 draft for next season. It is imperative that we lose as many games as possible this season, and just focus on next season, there is no way that we are going to be a playoff (or regular season) competitor this year with Jamaal Charles and Eric Barry missing. Let's not kid ourselves and just throw the rest of the games this year.

810 sports radio has been heard arguing this case by saying that "they won't blow the rest of the season because staff members, players and coaches will risk losing their jobs". That is an ignorant statement - here's why: EVERYONE sits down and agrees that losing the remaining games this year is in the Chiefs best interest and no one will lose their job based ONLY upon the team's record for the 2011 season. Now, with that said, if someone on the Chiefs payroll was going to be losing their job after this season ANYWAY, then so be it. But the team would need to sit down and actually agree not to fire anyone based upon this season's record. That, my friends, is the solution.

We are kidding ourselves if we think that Matt Cassel is EVER going to be the right guy for us at quarterback. The only way that would be possible is if we were to build the BEST defense in the NFL, then you might get a team that resemble the Baltimore Ravens 2000 Super Bowl winning team behind mediocre quarterback Trent Dilfer. We would need the best defense in the NFL to propel us to a Super Bowl win behind Matt Cassel.

In other news, Jared Allen, our former defensive lineman who now wears a Minnesota Vikings jersey, has requested that the fans at Arrowhead Stadium please not "boo" him this Sunday.
