Chiefs Titans AFC West Playoff Picture - Rich Gannon Tool

Chiefs PUNK Titans, and Rich Gannon is a TOOL
by Kansas City News

The Kansas City Chiefs took out the Tennessee Titans today effortlessly, the game was over by halftime and for some reason I thought that the Titans had a running back?  What was his name again?  Oh well, I can't remember.  The Chiefs took apart the Titans defense by finally throwing the football EARLY and often.  Jamaal Charles was electric as usual, catching two early touchdown passes from Matt Cassel.

Here at Kansas City News, we've been saying all year that the Chiefs need to throw the ball early in the game to get the defense off of our running game, and they must have read our blog as they finally did just that.

Tennessee Titan's receiver Kenny Britt made a hilarious attempt at "shushing" the Kansas City Chiefs home crowd when he made one pathetic touchdown catch.  This was hilarious.  Yeah, Britt, you really shushed us, since we were up 24 - 7 at that point.  Idiot.

On another note, we officially hate Rich Gannon and wonder why we always get stuck with him calling our games.  It's obvious that Rich Gannon HATES the Chiefs as he tries his best to play up the other team, and reluctantly gives the Chiefs credit when they succeed.  The Chiefs now control their destiny in the AFC West and hopefully the Chargers will choke today.  Kansas City News was first on the scene to report today's game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tennessee Titans...

Cassel Outstanding in Return From Surgery Chiefs Win 27-13

The Chiefs started a little slow on Sunday in St Louis against the Rams. By the end of the first half, however, the Chiefs had stolen momentum and it was apparent they would go on to a victory. The Rams got off to an early 6-0 lead before the Chiefs woke up on offense and scored 14 unanswered for a 14-6 halftime Chiefs lead and never looked back. Ryan Succop (how would you like to grow up with that last name) added added two field goals, including a 53 yarder to put the Chiefs up by 2 TDs in the 4th Quarter. A Rams score added some drama until this Jamaal Charles outstanding 80 yard run set up an insurance 2 yard TD run by Thomas Jones. Incidentally did you see Cassel's AWESOME spike after Jones's TD - Man he was fired up.

Matt Cassel didn't show any ill effects of his recent appendectomy and was very efficient all day (with the exception of the 1INT he threw). He was 15-29 for 184 yards, and I counted 2 terrible drops by receivers, both on third downs. Cassel also had a gutsy 13 yard scramble in the second quarter. Great performance by a gamer 11 days after invasive surgery.

You also can't say enough about Jamaal Charles. He increased his season yards/carry to an incredible 6.4, more than yard/carry more than anyone else in the league. He probably would have reached the endzone on that 80 yard run if not for legs cramps that had bothered him throughout the game.

The Chiefs still hold their destiny in their hands. Wins at home against Tennessee and Oakland ensure a Division title and a playoff game at Arrowhead. Get some Chiefs!

Chiefs Dominated by Chargers

The Kansas City Chiefs were dominated by the Chargers in every phase of the game Sunday. It can only be described as a forgetful performance by the Chiefs. Brody Croyle certainly would like to forget his only start of the season, and 10th consecutive loss as a Chiefs Starter. Though Croyle could be an easy target, this game was by no means his fault. In fact, the rest of the team and the coaching staff should issue a public apology to Brody for the lack of support.

The Offensive Line play was terrible - the worst of the season. Barry Richardson looked lost, and the coaching staff doesn't get the man any help. No holes opened up for the running game and no time for the quarterback. When Croyle did have time, he actually passed the ball pretty well. A key drop by Bowe on third down, a nice pass play called back by penalty, and a great defensive play by a San Diego back kept Croyle's efforts from showing up on a stat sheet.

Defensively, the Chiefs just couldn't get off the field. The Chargers made play after play on third down to keep floundering drives going - The Charger's 11 of 15 on third down compared to the Chief's 0-11. Is that right? 0% third down efficiency? uggghh, this game was worse than I thought. Nevermind, why am I trying to find bright spots. Fuck it, let's look at the rest of the season.

The Chiefs now most likely have to win out to win the division and go to the playoffs. The Chargers have a game lead in Conference record which would be a tiebreaker if they finish with the same record as our Chiefs. Certainly it is doable with the remaining schedule.

at St Louis - St Louis is a young team fighting for their division Championship (very dangerous game)
Home against Tennessee - They seem to have given up, should be an easy win
Home against Oakland - Throw out the record books when we play the Raiders, anything could happen.

Take care of business and we go to the playoffs. I think we can do it, but let's be honest, it's just good to play meaningful games in December.

AFC West Standings - Chiefs Top AFC Standings

The Kansas City Chiefs keep their seat at the top of the AFC West Standings
by Kansas City News

With today's thrashing of the Denver Broncos, The Kansas City Chiefs continue to dominate the AFC West.  The media has not yet fully accepted the fact that the Chiefs are the best team in the AFC.  Sports media reps continue to talk about how great the Chargers are, and hardly even mention the Chiefs during AFC West breakdown discussions.  One reason for this is probably because everyone LOVES Philip Rivers, and cannot accept the fact that his team is just not as good as they should be.  The Chargers prematurely let LaDainian Tomlinson go and he went on to be a big yard producer with the Jets, who are a real team and also sit atop their division (see AFC East Standings).

Hopefully after this week the sports media will begin to take the Chiefs seriously and put a hush on all of the Chargers talk.  The Chiefs have worked harder than any team in the NFL this year and you can tell.  This team, led very emotionally by Todd Haley has established themselves in a category that every team attempts to master - the running game.  Only the strongest teams can put up the kind of rushing yards that our beloved Chiefs (using Mr. Wonderful's terminology) are putting up, and that shows a commitment to the running game that every NFL team strives to build.

Until further notice, the Kansas City Chiefs are the best team in the AFC - don't believe us?  Check out the AFC West Standings and deal with it.

Chiefs Raiders 2010 - The Rivalry Continues

Chiefs Raiders 2010 - The Rivalry Continues
by Kansas City News

As the AFC West standings reveal, the only two teams left standing in this division are The Kansas City Chiefs and The Los Angeles Raiders.  The Chiefs are a stellar 5 and 2 and the lowly Raiders are only 4 and 4 due to a recent streak of luck that has befallen them.  So basically, even if the Chiefs lose this game they are still in first place, uncontested.  However if the Chiefs can pound the Raiders back into reality, then they will be a lock for a playoff birth in the AFC.

The Chiefs / Raiders rivalry goes way back to the 60's when the Chiefs, led by Hall of Fame coach Hank Stramm, and the Raiders led by the ever-animated John Madden, were constantly battling it out for the top spot and helped to put the NFL on the map.  The Chiefs, of course went on to win Super Bowl IV in 1970, thus showing their overall superiority.

Las Vegas has the Line pick for The Kansas City Chiefs to win over the Raiders with a spread of 2.5 and a total of 44 points.  I don't think that this game will see 44 points as the 2010 season has shown us that when two high scoring teams meet, the score goes low.  If you're out in Vegas, or betting online, definitely take the under on this game.  This will be a defensive battle, although I do predict most of the scoring to occur early in the game.  Amazingly enough, history shows that if the Raiders score first, they are more likely to lose.  Interesting fact.

The Kansas City Chiefs have the number 1 rushing game in the NFL, and they will relentlessly run against an unpredictable Raiders rushing defense.  Plan on seeing more of Tony Moeaki in this game, as well as sleeper receiver Terrance Copper.  On the Raider's side of the ball they have a BIG problem with super star shut-down corner Nnamdi Asomugha out for the game, and adding to their troubles will be the absense of one Zach Miller, who has been a big part of their recent success.

Ryan Lilja, our prized O-Lineman will be returning to duty this week which should really get that running game moving "early and often" as my old partner Mr. Wonderful would say.  I'm almost relieved that this game isn't being played in Kansas City, at least we won't have to be reminded of how much trash and ghetto folk live here when they all show up at Arrowhead (how do they afford tickets?) in their Raiders Jerseys, poor nasty trash - all of them.  I have good friends who usually serve Mexican cuisine at their tailgate party when the Raiders are in town, nice!

Chiefs - AFC West Standings - 2010

Kansas City Chiefs and the AFC West Standings - Good News!

Hey, it's Monday and we need some good news Chiefs fans.  Well, here it is:

EVERYONE in the AFC West lost on Sunday.  The Raiders fell to the 49ers, The Broncos fell to Jets, and the Chargers (who everyone thinks are so great) lost to the friggin' RAMS!  On a side note, the Chargers are also 0-2 in the division, which is bad.

With a winning percentage of .666, the Chiefs are in great shape against a division that is all even at .333 after the Chiefs.  The Chiefs are also 3rd in the NFL in points allowed at 92 - not bad.  Don't despair Chiefs fans, our division sucks!
