Man Walks Entire Amazon River

Bookmark and Share
While you have been working, sleeping and enjoying a normal life over the past two years, Ed Stafford has been making better use of his time. Well, insane may be the better word; Stafford just completed a two-year journey in which he navigated through the entire Amazon river.

Stafford, a former Army captain, had grown bored in his new life as a stock broker and decided to challenge himself... by walking the length of a river. He encountered disease, deadly creatures and hostile natives, but was able to persist through all of it and finish his journey.

Stafford's tale may sound crazy to most of us, however it is a very inspirational tale. Many people have walked a long distance as a challenge or to raise awareness for a cause, few have walked a long distance through a long and dangerous river. Next time I'm bored and looking for something to spice up my life, I might follow in Stafford's muddy footprints. Or I could just keep playing golf.

Drunk Driving Arrests down in Kansas City

Bookmark and Share
Arrests for driving under the influence are down in the latest installment of a checkpoint in the Kansas City area. A checkpoint set up last night at 9700 Metcalf in Overland Park only yielded eight arrests out of over 500 cars that were stopped.

These numbers are a positive sign in contrast to the arrest amounts from previous checkpoints in the Kansas City area. The lower number of drivers being arrested and removed from the road suggests that more people are refraining from driving home after a night out at the bars.

The lower arrest rate may be due to a more suburban location for the checkpoint or simply due to chance; however, the checkpoints, and prior notice of them, may be beginning to work around Kansas City. Further numbers may suggest as to this is a one-time occurrence or if drunk-driving around Kansas City is getting better.

Tiger Woods' Struggles: Will He Ever Get "It" Back?

Bookmark and Share
Tiger Woods used to be the best golfer on tour. He used to be dominant. No really, he was, I promise. The golfer was supposed to be returning to form at Bridgestone Invitational, an event he has dominated in the past. However, Woods currently sits at 75th place, prompting the question of when, if ever, is he going to get "it" back.

By now the crazy events of Woods' car accident and infidelities seem like ancient history. After the media storm died down and Woods left sex rehab, he returned to the sport that he had dominated since a teen. Woods actually started out right where he left off, placing fourth at the Masters and seemingly prepared to catapult back to the top. However, Woods seems to be heading backwards, and now he is struggling at an event that used to be more news worthy when he didn't win.

Perhaps Woods still hasn't gotten over the personal drama he dealt with last fall, or perhaps he is still shaking off the cobwebs after spending time away from the course. At this point though, asking if Woods will ever return to form is a serious question. The sport needs Woods to be successful, however given Woods' latest results, that wait could be longer than anyone expected.

WIfe Learns of Husband's Second Wedding on Facebook

Bookmark and Share
Social Media sites such as Facebook have revolutionized the way people stay in contact, communicate with each other and access information. For wives suspicious of their husbands, it has also added a useful tool in which to uncover the truth.

Lynn France had grown suspicious that her husband was having an affair, so she turned to facebook to uncover the truth. Turns out, her husband had married another woman in 2009 at Walt Disney World and was featured in some 200 photos with his second wife. Busted.

We have heard many other stories of how social media and the internet has helped suspicious spouses catch their significant others. While this example is comical, especially on the husbands end (I mean what idiot marries another woman and then posts the pictures on a public site?) it is an example of how the internet is changing the ways we access information. Maybe guys like Lynn France's husband will get a little smarter in regards to their secret lives, but I can live with some more funny anecdotes.
