Woman Uses Facebook To Accuse Man Of Physically Assaulting Her

The picture Taylor uploaded to Facebook
A woman who had suffered physical abuse posted a picture of herself at Liberty Hospital on her attacker’s Facebook wall, leading to a charge of second-degree felony domestic assault.

Amber Taylor, 23, was found in a bathtub at a motel after being hit in the head with the handle of a baseball bat and knocked unconscious by 19-year-old Austin McCauley. A witness who found the woman initially feared that she was dead. McCauley also held a knife to his throat after the attack in front of other witnesses, threatening to hurt himself if any contacted the police.

Witnesses say that Taylor and McCauley have been living together in the motel room for a little over two weeks. After McCauley assaulted Taylor with the bat, he took her to the bathroom to clean her up before threatening to kill both the witnesses on the scene and himself with a knife.

Austin McCauley
It is believed that McCauley’s attack started after he found text messages on Taylor’s phone between herself and another man.

The woman then snapped a picture of herself recovering in Liberty Hospital and posted it to McCauley’s Facebook page using his account, where it received 6,500 likes and has been shared over 700 times. Taylor wrote on the picture’s caption “I want everyone to know who he is bc he is fake and honestly NO woman ever deserves to be in my spot.” Many people have left comments of praise and encouragement for the woman.

McCauley is currently in police custody with a court date scheduled for December 31.

In today’s world filled with social media outlets, one’s actions will get magnified. McCauley learned that the hard way, and thousands of people now know he is assaulted a woman, left her for dead and then threatened to kill others. Many people are weary of how platforms like Facebook have invaded our privacy, but in cases like this, they can help deliver justice.

Kansas City's US Highway 71 Officially Becomes A Part Of New Interstate 49

Today marks the official transition from US Highway 71 to Interstate 49, a new roadway that will run from the Canadian border all the way to New Orleans. The 180 mile stretch of US 71 from Kansas City to Joplin, MO has been officially improved to interstate standards, including upgrades to the road and interchanges.

Once completed, the northern portion of I-49 will end at the ramp to I-435 and I-470 in Kansas City. This split will give drivers heading north two options:  either taking I-29 which ends in Manitoba, Canada, or I-35, which ends in Duluth, Minnesota. The southern part of I-49 will end in New Orleans at the Gulf of Mexico.

Progress on the road has been slower in Arkansas and Louisiana, although Louisiana’s portion of I-49 could be completed within the next year. Arkansas’ portion of the highway is mostly new construction, with a $2 billion estimated cost to complete a road between I-30 and I-40. Funding has been a major issue in Arkansas for new roads, which has been the primary cause for delay.

Missouri’s cost for the project was an estimated $400 million, much lower than Arkansas’ cost due to US 71 was already a four-lane highway. Most of the construction done including removing at-grade intersections by building new interchanges.

I-49 is expected to give the country’s economy a boost by significantly improving transportation around the Midwest. The planned route will intersect with nine existing interstates running from east-to-west, creating a transportation grid that will improve the movement of both goods and people.

Dwayne Bowe Injury - Career With Chiefs Likely Over

Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe left Sunday’s game against the Browns with a rib injury, and now appears to be out for the season. Bowe finished the season with 59 catches for 801 yards and three touchdowns, respectable numbers considering the struggles the team had with its quarterback play. The question now is this: Has Bowe played his last game as a Kansas City Chief?

All signs point towards the answer of this question being “yes.” Bowe’s relationship with the organization went south this offseason, when the team refused to sign him to a long-term contract and placed the franchise tag on him. As a result, Bowe held out during the preseason, and did not sign his franchise tender until the regular season was about to begin.

Bowe is a free agent at the end of the season, and most speculate that he will try to sign with a winning team. Not only does Bowe want to play for a winner, he will want a long-term deal and a lucrative contract similar to what other top receivers in the league are getting.

What is disappointing for Chiefs fans is that Bowe may potentially walk and the team will get no compensation for him. It was reported earlier this season that Bowe was pushing for a trade out of Kansas City, and there were several teams interested in his services. The team should have dealt Bowe to a team desperate for a WR and gotten a valuable draft pick back in return, especially since it was apparent after only a few weeks this season that the team was heading towards a terrible record.

Bowe was drafted by the Chiefs in the first round of the 2007 NFL draft, and has 415 career catches for 5,728 yards and 39 touchdowns.

Royals Trade Top Prospects Myers, Odorizzi To Rays For Pitchers James Shields And Wade Davis

After the Chiefs once again failed to put a competitive product on the field, Kansas City sports fans have turned their attention to the Royals, who have just pulled off a blockbuster trade. The team dealt outfielder Wil Myers (recently named the 2012 minor league player of the year), pitchers Jake Odorizzi and Mike Montgomery and third baseman Patrick Leonard to the Rays for pitchers James Shields and Wade Davis.

The Royals’ main goal this offseason was to improve its pitching rotation, and apart from Zach Grienke, Shields was the most sought-after available pitcher. Shields was an All-Star last season and finished third in the Cy Young voting two seasons ago, and the pitcher compiled an 87-73 record in his seven seasons with the Rays. Davis may also have a shot to join the Royals’ rotation, although he spent much of last season as a reliever. Davis finished with a 3-0 record last season with a 2.43 ERA in 70 1/3 innings. As a starter the previous two seasons, Davis went a combined 23-20 with a 4.27 ERA.

While acquiring Shields immediately makes the Royals contenders for the AL Central, the big question is did the team give up too much? Myers is predicted to become a star, as he posted monster numbers in the minor leagues and is only 21-years-old. By dealing Myers, the team is also now stuck with Jeff Francoeur in the outfield yet again this season, and the veteran has been in a sharp decline over the past year. Odorizzi was also a very valuable prospect, as the pitcher went 11-3 with a 2.93 ERA in Class AAA Omaha last season and was predicted to compete for a rotation spot as early as this season. Myers and Odorizzi were a huge part of the organization’s future, and the Royals made have dealt a future star and quality starter for a good-but-not-great pitcher.

There is no question that this trade makes the Royals a contender for the AL Central. The team has a deep and talented pitching staff, and if its young stars on offense can continue to produce, the team should push for a playoff spot next season. Despite the immediate upgrade, it appears that the team has mortgaged its long-term future for a shot to win now. If the team pushes for a playoff spot this season, trading Myers and Odorizzi will be more justified. The Royals, for the first time in years, are officially in “win now” territory.

Kansas City Chiefs - Cleveland Browns Preview

The Chiefs will look to build off the momentum of their emotional victory over the Panthers last week when they travel to Cleveland to face the Browns. Kansas City is looking for its third win of the season, while Cleveland will be trying to earn its fifth win. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.

The Chiefs have been the most discussed and dissected NFL franchise over the past week in the wake of the murder-suicide of Jovan Belcher. The focus on Belcher’s death has somewhat overshadowed the Chiefs previous game against Carolina, in which the team played its best football of the season. Most of that credit has to go to the offense, which controlled the clock by sustaining several long scoring drives which was the biggest reason the team won. Brady Quinn will be facing his old team, and he should have a good amount of confidence after playing well last week. Jamaal Charles already has topped the 1,000 yard mark for the season and is averaging 4.8 yards-per-carry, and he will continue to be the focus of Kansas City’s attack.

Cleveland's offense is anchored by two rookies – quarterback Brandon Weeden and running back Trent Richardson, and both have had up-and-down first seasons. Despite being banged up for most of the season, Richardson has already had 229 carries this season. The Browns seem adamant about giving their top-pick as many touches as they can every game, and he needs to be the focus of a Chiefs defense that has struggled lately. If the Chiefs can bottle up Richardson, they will force Weeden to make some plays, and the rookie QB has been prone to turnovers this season.

The Browns have won two straight, although those wins came over the Steelers without Ben Roethlisberger and the lowly Raiders. Still, this team has been competitive all year, and Weeden and Richardson have settled into their roles and aren’t playing like rookies anymore. If the Chiefs can stop Richardson and get an early score, they will force Weeden to make some plays with his arm and play from behind, which could result in Kansas City’s third win of the season.
