Most Popular Wedding Date of 2015 by KCMB News Kansas City

We recently interviewed several experts on Kansas City weddings to find out what the most popular 2015 wedding date currently was shaping up to be. Every year, almost inexplicably it seems, there is one red hot Saturday that a majority of brides choose as their wedding day. Whether the date makes up a clever number combination or it is in the coveted wedding date month of June, thus the popular term "June bride", couples seem to make one day of the year the most popular wedding date each year.

Most Popular Wedding Date of 2007
Let's start with the year 2007, where July 7th fell on a Saturday. This made the excellent wedding date of 07/07/07 - or 777, which in the gambling world is a very lucky combination of numbers, not to mention that the number 7 is generally considered to be inherently lucky. An overwhelming number of couples tied the knot on July 7th, 2007 and there most certainly is a club somewhere just for couples who were married on this popular date. We asked a National wedding band booking agency "Bands for Hire Live!" about their experience…"oh wow, Seven, Seven, of 07, that was a HUGE day for us and almost every wedding band on the planet. We were so swamped with inquiries that we had to bring in some temps to help with the extra call load. I know that there are a lot of happy couples out there with July 7th, 2007 as their wedding date."

Most Popular Wedding Date of 2008
Although not as obvious as July 7th, 2007, 2008 also had it's most popular wedding date. It was a close race in 2008 between May 17th, 2008 and June 14th, 2008 with June 14th just edging out May 17th for the win. June 14th, which was situated perfectly in the middle of June, attracted the most couples as the most popular wedding date in 2008.

Most Popular Wedding Date of 2009
Although we can offer absolutely NO explanation for it, brides went for an unusual month in 2009, selecting the crisp pre-winter month of October to be married. Though trends almost always point to May or June, the most popular wedding date in 2009 was October 10th. Quite unexpected by most Kansas City wedding vendors, a lot of them were wishing they would have raised their prices for October 10th as it was so popular that a lot of wedding vendors were turning away business as they were completely booked up. We interviewed the popular wedding band BIG SHOW Dueling Pianos about this and they were quick to remember…"we had at least 6-8 couples interested in booking us for that date. We never saw it coming, we thought it was a little curious that we booked a date like October 10th almost a year in advance, which is typical for June dates, but then when the calls kept coming in for October 10th we understood why at that point. Either way, we had a great night with an incredible wedding party!"

Most Popular Wedding Date of 2010
Again in 2010 we had a battle between the monster wedding months of May and June, with May 22nd and May 29th ranking way up on the scale, but once again May was beat out by June. Easily the most popular wedding date of 2010 was June 19th.

Most Popular Wedding Date of 2011
This year we saw another memorable and magical number combination with 9, 10, 11 - or, September 10th, 2011. Brides threw both May and June out the window and chose this as the most popular wedding date of 2011. We asked local Kansas City wedding band "The Wedding Crashers" how that date went for them…"this year we saw them coming, haha, we knew well in advance that nine, ten, eleven was going to be the biggest wedding date of the year. We performed for a HUGE wedding reception at Union Station that year, it was awesome!"

Most Popular Wedding Date of 2012
Finally, in this year, May claimed a victory. After being edged out by June year after year, and even beaten out by September the year before, the most popular wedding date of 2012 was May 12th. "This wedding day was very special because of the weather", the owner of Kansas City Wedding Bands told us, "the weather was exactly 75 degrees and sunny all day with clear skies and it cooled off to about 65 that night which, if you were wearing a full tuxedo, was absolutely perfect."

Most Popular Wedding Date of 2013
Amazingly enough in 2013 September came up and grabbed another win. With the weather becoming warmer and warmer, it seems that this fall month has risen considerable in popularity in the last few years. The most popular wedding date of 2013 was September 14th. When we interviewed local Kansas City wedding planner Katie Jones-Barron she said that "September is getting higher and higher on the priority chart for our company as more and more brides are choosing that month for their big day. In the past we would be functioning at full capacity during June for sure, but now we can also throw May and September into the mix."

Most Popular Wedding Date of 2014
Jumping up and grabbing the prize for the second year in a row was September. This time the win was a LANDSLIDE victory with an overwhelming amount of couples tying the knot on this date. Without a doubt the most popular wedding date of 2014 is September 13th. Ryan Bogowith, creator of Kansas City One Stop, told us "…right now our social media pages are going crazy with people still looking for wedding catering companies, wedding photographers, florists, you name it. It appears as though a lot of these companies are all booked up at this point."

Most Popular Wedding Date of 2015
Drum roll please…we will now announce the winner! As far as our research has told us, and after several interviews with local wedding vendors of every kind we have arrived at what we think is the right day. With a landslide victory the most popular wedding date of 2015 is May 16th. We interviewed local Kansas City wedding band The KC All Stars and they said that they have already had over 5 requests for May 16th, 2015 and they expect those numbers to at least triple. "We know that we're going to get a lot more requests to perform on May 16th, but we've been booked on that date for over 2 months now. Even the bands that we typically refer our clients to when we're booked like "The Wedding Crashers" or "The Taxis" are booked up as well. There is a date like this every year, sometimes we can tell what it's going to be, sometimes we can't. But when you're booking us, it's first deposit wins."

If you're planning on having your wedding on the most popular wedding date of 2015 which is May 16th, 2015, you had better start reserving your wedding vendors, because they are going to book up FAST. We hope you enjoyed this article and congratulations to every couple who plans to marry in 2015!

Valentine's Day 2014 Kansas City Events Parties Galas by KCMB News Kansas City

This year is a great year to be in love, or maybe you're looking for that special someone? Either way we've got you covered here at KCMB News with all of the biggest and best Valentine's Day 2014 Kansas City events, parties and galas that are happening around the city.

For 2015 Valentine's Day in Kansas City Go Here

One of the biggest and most popular Valentine's Day galas will be Children's Mercy Hospital's Red Hot Night 2014. This popular charity fundraiser is in it's 10th year and will be held on February 8th, 2014 at Bartle Hall in the Grand Ballroom in downtown KC. This event will feature a gourmet dinner prepared by the Westin Crown Center, a pre-party hosted by Toyota, Silent, Super Silent and Live Auctions presented by Deloitte, and the headline act will be The KC All Stars band presented by Adam Blue Productions. The auction items for Red Hot Night 2014 include trips to Las Vegas, Steamboat Springs, Captiva and Florida, a 2 year lease on a 2014 Avalon XLW Premium, suites to watch The Kansas City Chiefs and The Royals and more exciting items. This year's Honorary Co-Chairs are Dave and Mikel Flickinger and Kevin and Stacie Needham. For information on how to donate to Children's Mercy Hospital visit their main website at www. childrensmercy.org

Valentine's Day 2014 in Kansas City falls on a Friday so it will be a very busy night. Be sure and watch your driving and take a cab if you plan to be drinking as there will be DUI checkpoints everywhere in town that night. KC also offers pedicabs now which is a creative transportation solution as well.

For smaller Valentine's Day 2014 KC plans you might consider dining at one of the classic romantic restaurants like the Melting Pot  at 450 Ward Parkway in the Plaza, be sure and call for reservations asap at 816-931-6358 for the Melting Pot as they will fill up quickly. Another great spot would be Milano at Crown Center, they feature incredible chef prepared italian cuisine and you could also walk around that entire area as it is in the Crown Center shopping center which is attached to the Westin Crown Center who has a great bar in the lobby and you could even jump into the tunnel that takes you over the street to Union Station. Finally one of our favorite secret places to spend Valentine's Day is at our local EBT on 435 and State Line. EBT is an incredible fine dining restaurant and features private elevator car tables that were taken from the original Emery Bird Thayer building downtown and installed into the restaurant as booths! You're literally sitting inside an elevator while you dine - very swank. Reviews of Kansas City restaurant EBT are almost all positive and the service there is the best.

Concerts - KC All Stars @ Crossroads Kansas City

Concerts - The KC All Stars @ the Crossroads
We've seen some great concerts this year, but The KC All Stars at The Crossroads Thursday night was one of the best by far. Local Kansas City dance band "The KC All Stars", winners of KMBC-TV's "Best Band in Kansas City" showed exactly why they deserved that title. One of the final huge outdoor concerts of the season, this one delivered big time. In an incredibly upbeat and energetic split set format, which is a KC All Stars staple, the band brought the audience to their feet and they stayed up and dancing for the entire show. When the concert started and the band hit the stage, the horns set the tone by blasting out the Stevie Wonder classic "Sir Duke (You Can Feel It All Over)" complete with dance steps and a blistering guitar solo by Kansas City's funkiest guitarist John Bridgewater, who teased the gawking crowd by playing the final scales behind his back - another KC All Stars staple.

Then out came their incredible female vocalist, who won the National competition "Harrah's Lucky Break", going all the way to Los Angeles and taking home the trophy, returned to Kansas City to join the hottest band on the scene and perform stellar Kansas City concerts. This girl ripped out "Rude Boy" by Rihanna like she wrote the song herself and turned the concert on it's ear (no pun intended). The horns jumped off the stage and came out into the audience, playing in step (both are KU Marching Band Alumni) and circling the crowd all the way around the amphitheater before returning to the stage to kick off "Dynamite" by Tiao Cruz and then a modernized medley of Michael Jackson hits.

Rocking the crowd to the point of exhaustion, the band certainly made everyone in attendance lose at least 5 pounds. As in most of their Kansas City concerts, for the grand finale they grabbed a stage full of people out of the audience and brought them up to join in the fun. Under clear and perfect skies, the weather cooperated and it was a wonderful "farewell" to the summer, and a perfect start to the fall. We're pretty sure that most everyone who attended is still recuperating today, but it's back to work for The KC All Stars who will start the machine up again tomorrow night on the ROOF of the downtown Kansas City Library (private event).

The KC All Stars to Headline "Paint the Night" Concert at Park Place in Leawood

The City of Leawood, Kansas will come to life tonight as Park Place is hosting the 2012 "Paint the Night" concert featuring the winner's of KMBC-TV's "Best Band in Kansas City" award, The KC All Stars. The KC All Stars are headlining the concert and will take the stage around 9pm. This massive street festival will have over 5,000 people in attendance and will be one of the biggest outdoor concert events of the year.

The Park Place Concert Series, founded in part and produced by Adam Blue Productions is an annual outdoor large scale concert held at the all new Park Place shopping district in Leawood, Kansas located at 115th and Nall. The concert has grown in size every year as it attracts Leawood residents and Southern Overland Park residents alike.

The KC All Stars have created a massive following in the Kansas City, Leawood and Overland Park areas and they have won the "Best Band in Kansas City" award for three years in a row. Members of The KC All Stars attribute their success to hard work, attention to the fans, and the fact that the band is young, energetic and have the ability to perform hit songs from every generation from Motown, to 70's Funk, to the hits of the 80's, to 90's hip hop all the way up to today's modern hits. "Always give the crowd what they want" is the band's motto, and tonight at Park Place's "Paint the Night" concert in Leawood, that is just what they intend to do. The weather for the concert should be very tolerable compared to the weather that Kansas City has recently experienced, with temperatures in the mid to low 80's when The KC All Stars hit the stage around 9pm.

KC All Stars Reviews, References

Voted "Best Band in Kansas City" in 2011, 2010 and 2009 by KMBC-TV, The KC All Stars have moved into the number 1 spot when it comes to live bands in KC. Rather than ramble on about the band ourselves, we thought that we would let the public speak, so we are posting some recent KC All Stars reviews by clients who have hired the band for their events:

KC All Stars, thank you guys for a great performance! You made our wedding reception into a great party!! In fact, I think we needed a bigger dance floor :) Everyone had a fantastic time. We will look forward to seeing you guys play at RAGBRAI or perhaps in KC again. You guys rock! - Kate and Bob

Dear KC All Stars, we just wanted to let you know how pleased we all were by the band's performance. I agree with your philosophy of the band "making or breaking" a wedding - the KC All Stars did not disappoint. I cannot tell you the amount of people who came up to us and asked "where did you find that band? They are fantastic!" I am so grateful we were in attendance at a wedding KC where the KC All Stars were playing, if not, we never would have thought to go outside of Omaha to find a band for our daughter's wedding. Please share or extend this note to the band. If possible, I think we all "could have danced all night". Sincerely, Harriet Epstein

Thank you KC All Stars and crew for making our event a memorable one and donating your time to a wonderful cause. The Niles Home for Children would like to thank you and we wish you much success in the future. - Valerie Nicholson-Watson, President and CEO, Niles Home for Children

KC All Stars, great job! Thanks for everything! You came to my rescue several times and I really appreciated your tactfulness. Thanks again, Jane Pierce

KC All Stars - Thank you very much for performing at our wedding. You rocked the Nelson [Art Gallery] and we received raving reviews! Mike and I really enjoyed working with you. It was very nice of you to help us with the rehearsal dinner as well. You were really responsive and on top of things, it made my life as a bride so much easier. I would recommend you to anyone and really appreciated the awesome show! - Jenny and Mike Sharp

KC All Stars ~ I cannot thank you enough for making our wedding reception fabulous! Everyone commented on how "awesome" the band was and how "amazing" the vocalist was. You all did a great job and made the reception so much fun. Pretty sure Vince didn't get off the dance floor the last two hours of the reception. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed "Poker Face" especially. :) Thank you again! - Lara and Vince Bennett

Thank you so much for making our day special. The KC All Stars were amazing! They did a fantastic job of organizing the introductions, the bouquet toss, and everything else. As we made our way around the room to say our thank yous, it was great to look at the dance floor and see it crowded. We had so many people compliment us on the selection of the band, but even more than that, people were telling us how much fun the band was. Indeed, The KC All Stars were incredibly entertaining and they impressed everyone. If you ever need a recommendation, please let us know because we will let anyone know about the singing, dancing, and smiles that the KC All Stars brought to our party. Thank you for making our reception so memorable! Love, Brooke and Greg

The Kansas City Chiefs would like to thank The KC All Stars for once again putting on an incredible show at our home opener! We look forward to many more performances from your outstanding group at future games. It's been great working with you this again this season. Thanks for all that you do! - From the Entire Marketing Staff @ The Kansas City Chiefs

MLB All Star Game 2012 at Kauffman Stadium - Charity Gala

As the MLB All Star Game 2012 gets closer, here at Kansas City News we will keep you updated on all of the events as they happen.  The latest news on the 2012 All Star Game is about a charity fundraiser for the Negro League's Baseball Museum at 18th and Vine.  The Kansas City charity event will be called "Buck, BBQ and Baseball" - Buck for the late Buck O'Neil, BBQ because this event will feature some of The American Royal BBQ Contest's best BBQ, and finally Baseball because a portion of the proceeds from this charity event will go towards the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

This Kansas City charity event will be held during one of the biggest weekends that Kansas City has seen, or will see in the future as it is the first time the MLB All Star Game has graced our fair city since 1973.  It is predicted that the MLB All Star Game will bring around $50 Million dollars worth of revenue to Kansas City during that week, most of the revenue going to local Kansas City hotels, and Kansas City restaurants.  So far, the Buck, BBQ and Baseball charity event is going to feature great BBQ, a VIP party that will feature appearances by famous baseball players to be named later, and a performance by Kansas City jazz saxophone legend Darryl Terrell.  The VIP party will be held inside that actual baseball museum itself.  After the VIP party, guests will join together in the main hall of the museum event center and there will be live music by The KC All Stars, winners of KMBC-TV's "Best Band in Kansas City".

The Buck, BBQ and Baseball charity event has already received backing from several community leaders including Senator Roy Blunt, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver and The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.  The MLB All Star Game film crew will also be shooting footage of the event and the museum itself to use during cutaway shots during the Nationally televised All Star Game events including the Home Run Derby, the Future's Game, the Legends and Celebrity Softball Game, and of course the big day, The MLB All Star Game.

St. Lukes Mid America Heart Institute Grand Opening

This Sunday St. Luke's Hospital will have an open house for the grand opening of the Mid America Heart Institute, a brand new, state of the art heart facility that will employ 60 new doctors and surgeons, over 100 hospital beds and the latest in heart care equipment. The $330 Million dollar expansion has been years in the making and will replace the old Mid America Heart Institute, that building will become the new brain and stroke center.

Sunday's events will run from 1pm - 5pm, unfortunately smack in the middle of the Kansas City Chiefs game. The initial plan was to hold the open house and grand opening on Saturday, but the powers that be at St. Luke's are mostly Jewish and that would have interfered with Yom Kippur or something like that. So, they will be having it on Sunday, October 9th instead - during the Chiefs game.

Entertainment will be going all day for guests all ages including an appearance by Radio Disney, Darryl Terrell, Liverpool, Ida McBeth, and the grand finale will be a live performance by The KC All Stars. The new building will have an entrance directly off of Broadway and will be open to the public starting at 12 noon on Sunday. St. Luke's new Mid America Heart Institute is a welcome new addition to the excellent health care program and will surely save many lives in Kansas City in the years to come.

Chiefs Home Opener 2011 Bills

Our Kansas City Chiefs are poised and ready for the home opener on September 11th, 2011 at Arrowhead Stadium vs the Buffalo Bills. Although we a short one valuable tight end in Tony Moeaki, the Chiefs have yet to give us a real taste of what they have been working toward in the short off season and preseason. Of course we know that Jamaal Charles is going to get the ball early, but will the opposing defenses be keying so hard on him that it causes him to struggle, or God forbid fumble the ball several times. The Chiefs are looking to Thomas Jones to take some of the heat off of Charles as well as a shiny new passing attack line up in Steve Breaston and Jonathan Baldwin. Cassel, though not so keen on the long ball, will hopefully pass well enough to keep the chains moving, after all, he is the highest paid back up quarterback in the league.

On Sunday, September 11th, the NFL will honor the anniversary of this historic day 10 years ago when the twin towers were attacked in NYC. There should be a lot of chests swelling and an overall National sense of pride that takes over Arrowhead Stadium just before the game kicks off at 12 noon and hopefully the crowd at Arrowhead can help fuel the Chiefs drive towards success. There are a lot of great new things to look at and do at the new stadium including the Hy-Vee Quad, where local favorite band The KC All Stars will be performing. For some members there is also the Founder's Club where they will be featuring entertainment from Spike Blake from the dueling pianos fame. There are also numerous new display cases and monuments to Chiefs history, just be sure and get back to your seat before the fly over!

The Chiefs home opener 2011 vs. the Bills will be a day that we will remember for years to come.

Chiefs Home Opener 2011 Bills

The Kansas City Chiefs preseason is a little different than other NFL team's preseason - if you haven't been able to tell that already. But that will all be over soon and September 11th, 2011 will be upon us and the Chiefs home opener against the Buffalo Bills will be happening at Arrowhead Stadium.

The anticipation level for the Kansas City Chiefs hasn't been this high since the 90's, and Jamaal Charles is being gobbled up by fantasy football owners in the first round. Even Madden NFL 12 has given the Chiefs an admirable boost in player ratings this season.

Although not as exciting as last year's Chiefs home opener on Monday night vs. the Chargers, the 2011 Chiefs home opener will be Kansas City's first look at the real 2011 Kansas City Chiefs and what game plan they have in store for their more difficult 2011 schedule. There is no doubt that the Chiefs plan to implement more of a dependable and productive passing game, drafting Jonathan Baldwin in the first round and picking up Steve Breaston in the off season. We're all hoping that Matt Cassel is up to the task and can keep the heat off the running game that should carry us deep into the playoffs this year.

The home opener at Arrowhead on Sunday September 11th will get us back in full football mode with an air force fly-by, The KC All Stars performing on the main stage, a great new stadium to enjoy, and most of all, a good day to be a Kansas City Chiefs fan. See you there!

The KC All Stars live on stage at The Sprint Center
Going for their 3rd crown in a row as "Best Band in Kansas City" award, The KC All Stars bring home the gold.
by Kansas City News

For the third straight year, local dance band sensation The KC All Stars have won the prestigious "Best Band in Kansas City" award.  The KC All Stars had a stellar 2010 string of performances, including gaining the headlining slot for HBO at The Kansas City Convention Center, Larry Moore's Sunflower House Charity Gala at The Overland Park Convention Center for over 2000 guests, Headline Act at Kansas City's Power and Light District, The 2010 Kansas City Auto Show at Bartle Hall, The Kansas City Ballet's Ballet Ball Gala at The Muehlbach, The Uptown Theater, The Madrid Theater, Leawood's Park Place Concert Series and too many more great shows to mention.

The KC All Stars retained their status as the "Official Band of the Kansas City Chiefs" and performed at the season home opener vs. the Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium to a packed house.  They even married off one of our beloved Chief's offensive linemen Ryan Lilja at The Hilton President, as well as performed at the wedding of Charlia Taylor, head cheerleader for The Chiefs.

The KC All Stars were featured at several major KU events such as the annual spring dance and also the KU Alumni Gala.  The band didn't forget their fans at MU and KState either, performing for several Frat and Sorority parties on both campuses.

The KC All Stars' biggest honor this year was being invited to be the headline entertainment at The Kansas City Chamber of Commerce annual gala at The Hyatt Regency.

Coming in a close second place was Kansas City's newest rising star 80's band, "The Taxis", and in third place was the hottest new wedding band "The Wedding Crashers".  The KC All Stars are beginning to become a National act as they toured from Vero Beach, Florida to Scottsdale, Arizona as a headline act.

Sunflower House Valentine's Day Gala 2011

Kansas City Charity Events - The Sunflower House Valentine's Day Gala 2011
by Kansas City News

Once again a "who's who" of Kansas City events, The Sunflower House Valentine's Day Gala was a huge hit.  In attendance were District Attorney Jerry Gorman, Johnson County District Attorney Steven Howe, KMBC-TV's Larry Moore, Gary Ryther and a host of prominent Kansas City business and community leaders.  The event was produced by Adam Blue Productions and featured entertainment from Kansas City's hottest dance band The KC All Stars.

Sunflower House is a local Kansas City charity that raises money to assist children who are victims of child abuse in Wyandotte and Johnson County.  According to the event's MC and our good friend Larry Moore "The people at Sunflower House do a marvelous job working to help these kids. Sunflower House is a wonderful facility replacing the tiny quarters of the former Johnson County Coalition Against Child Abuse and it also provides for abused kids from Wyandotte County.  For me, it’s been a great opportunity to view the progress that has been made in 28 years in dealing with children who are victims of child abuse. These are children in our community we see each day. Sunflower House provides a place of hope and healing for over 450 children and their caregivers each year. I’m very pleased to have been a part of that effort for 28 years."  Larry Moore continued to add "The sobering reason for the annual event is that one in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused before they reach the age of 18."

Sunflower House is a child abuse prevention center serving Wyandotte and Johnson counties in Kansas. Founded in 1977, Sunflower House is a non-residential child advocacy center and an accredited member of the National Children's Alliance.

MISSION: To protect children in our community from physical and sexual abuse through education, advocacy, forensic and medical services.

Child Assessment and Medical Services:
Sunflower House provides a child-friendly, safe environment where children may share details about their abuse with a specially trained forensic interviewer. We also provide wellness and medical evaluations in our on-site clinic, facilitating early diagnosis and intervention.
Community Education:
Sunflower House provides personal safety education to schools and educates over 27,000 children, parents and professionals each year through P.S. It's My Body!, Keeping Kids Safe Online, Stewards of Children, Mandated Reporter Training and other educational programs.

Chiefs get Monday Night Game to Start KC Chiefs Season

Monday night game for The Kansas City Chiefs - Game one - Home Opener vs. The San Diego Chargers

Well, it hasn't happened since 2004 vs. The New England Patriots but our Kansas City Chiefs have got themselves a Monday night game!  The Chiefs will battle the San Diego Chargers in the home opener on Monday September 13th.  Arrowhead will be full of surprises including a halftime performance by The KC All Stars, two time winners of the "Best Band in Kansas City" Award.  The Chiefs game will start at 9:15pm.  Too bad for all of the office Bobs and office Barbies - will have to call in sick for work on Tuesday.

The Kansas City Chiefs have made several great moves this offseason, and everyone is excited to see who else they add during the NFL draft on Thursday.  The Kansas City Chiefs are slotted to draft in the #5 slot.  Names that have been dropped as possibles for the Chiefs are Eric Berry, Russell Okung, Bryan Bulaga, Morgan Burnett, and safety stand-out Golden Tate, who played for coach Haley in college.  The Chiefs have already made great moves including bringing in our personal friend Ryan Lilja - who we can tell you first hand was not happy in Indy - as well as the tandem running backs of Thomas Jones and Jamaal Charles.

Clark Hunt stated that "this would not be your usual home opener" so expect lots of surprises as Kansas City fans party late into the night on a school night at the Monday night home opener.

History
Although there is evidence that an association of dealers existed, and that a Motor Car Show was held in March 1907,the first documented beginning of the Automobile Dealers Association of Greater Kansas City can be traced to the organization's original Articles of Incorporation dated November 11, 1909. Originally known as the Motor Car Trade Association of Kansas City, 15 intricately penned signatures appeared on the Articles.

Automobiles and over-the-road transportation were still in the formative years as the purpose of the Association is described in those original Articles:

* To promote scientific investigation into the problems of the navigation of the air, and to inform the public thereof;
* To inform the public as to the construction and uses of both pleasure and commercial motor cars, and to this end to publish and distribute literature, to conduct and manage shows and exhibitions of motor cars and accessories and air ships of various kinds, and to hold and manage public contests of motor cars and air ships;
* To foster the building and maintenance of good roads, and to disseminate information to the members and to the public concerning roads and tours, and to aid in the passage of wise laws concerning roads and streets and the users of motor cars thereon;
* To bring about friendly and courteous social and business relations among motor car dealers and those connected with allied lines of business in Kansas City.

Needless to say, the Kansas City auto industry has evolved quite a bit over the past 100 years. And though we have removed terminology such as air ships from our charter, we continue to uphold the basic principles of encouraging public interest in new automobiles; and fostering the highest standards of integrity in business practices among new car and truck dealers. Some things never go out of style.
