Drivers License Checkpoints in Kansas City

Drivers license checkpoints in Kansas City will begin sometime after 2pm on Thursday, KCMO Police report.

Kansas City Police will begin the new drivers license checkpoints on Thursday, May 13th according to a statement released today.  The checkpoints are a city-wide response to a fatal accident that occurred on 71 highway and Gregory fatally injuring a 12 year old boy.  The driver that caused the accident was driving without a valid drivers license.  KCMO Police report that someone driving without a valid drivers license is 4 times more likely to be involved in a fatal car accident.

Another obvious reason for these checkpoints is to find illegal aliens.  We can't overlook the fact that this might be an ulterior motive for police to uncover illegal aliens in Kansas City as they drive around in their lawn service trucks (or actually their white boss' lawn service truck).  There is already an illegal alien patrol in place although most don't know about it.  If you ever see a large grey SUV type vehicle with a truck pulled over, that's an illegal alien patrol.  I know that they officially call these SUV patrol vehicles something else to make it sound politically correct, but believe me, they're looking for illegal aliens driving around in work trucks.

The new drivers license checkpoints in Kansas City will be a great thing as they will rid our streets of criminals and illegal aliens all in one shot.  Kudos to the Kansas City Police Department!

Roadblocks, Checkpoints by Kansas City Police for Valid Driver's License Check

Starting May 6th, Kansas City police will set up roadblocks and checkpoints to check drivers for valid driver's licenses.

KCMO police claim that Kansas City drivers who drive without a valid driver's license are 4 times more likely to be involved in or cause a fatal car crash.  This statistic most likely stemmed from a recent incident that claimed the life of a 12 year old boy in a fatal car wreck on 71 highway (the ghetto highway) and Gregory that involved Clayton R. Dunlap and Damian Slayton.  Clayton R. Dunlap was apparantly driving under the influence of PCP as he was speeding westbound on Gregory when he attempted to run a stoplight and struck a line of 5 cars waiting at the light.  The first car that Dunlap struck was a silver volkswagon that held passengers Damian Slayton and his mother Bri Kneisley.  Damian Slayton was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene while his mother Bri was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after suffering severe brain damage.  Damian Slayton was said to have been a model student with a bright future who loved to read and make people laugh.  He was a student at Nowlin Middle School.  Clayton Dunlap is being charged with 2nd Degree Murder and 1 count of felony driving according to the State of Missouri Courts.

The City of Kansas City is most likely reacting to this incident by putting up the roadblocks / checkpoints to check for valid driver's licenses.  Clayton Dunlap had a record of 16 violations involving driving while suspended or revoked and Kansas City Police say that he was a high risk driver.  KCMO police will be setting up roadblocks and checkpoints starting May 6th to check for drivers such as Clayton Dunlap driving while suspended or revoked.  Or, as we are hoping, they will find several illegal Mexican yard workers during the search and get them off the road as well.  Definitely start the search in Olathe, as they have the highest percentage of Mexican yard workers driving around clogging up 119th street and 135th street, respectively.

Kansas City Missouri Police Shoot and Kill Man

Late Wednesday night a man was fatally shot by a Kansas City Missouri Police Officer. The incident started with the Officer noticing a driver on 71 Hwy driving erratically without headlights. Lights, Sirens, Chase ensue. Now dead criminal doesn't stop, of course - pulls into driveway at 7107 Agnes (nice neighborhood) and proceeds to run towards the front door. Cop catches him before he can get inside (must be one of our more in shape cops) - a struggle starts, crackhead (allegedly) reaches for his gun. Not fast enough; KCMO Police Officer shoots him first. The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave per Department Policy. This is the second incident in about a week. A Ruskin Heights man was killed last week by Police after refusing to drop a pole (curtain rod, whatever) and rushing police after robbing a house.

From just the initial description of the incident, it sounds like this cop really has his shit together. He catches the guy before he can get inside (his?) house, and draws his weapon before dead dirt bag can. Nice job indeed! And we save the money of a trial and housing the prisoner. But seriously, another incident that highlights the dangerous job our Police Officers face everyday. I know they are irritating when they write you a speeding ticket for going 7 over, but they really do deserve our thanks.

Cue nasty comments from friends and family of the dead man claiming that cops love to shoot innocent people, and dead guy was such a great person and father, etc...

St Patrick's Day DUI Checkpoint in Kansas City Yields Arrests

According to the Kansas City Police Department's website, Alcohol is related to 63% of the city's traffic deaths in 2010. While that figure is alarming, it might be more alarming that the other 37% of the time everyone involved was sober - that just goes to show that people can't drive whether they have been drinking or not. But seriously, the KCMO Police has a new weapon in the battle against the drunken driver. The new mobile DWI enforcement center was unveiled this week, and what better way to christen their new toy than with a St Paddy's Day Party on Southwest Trafficway!


The state of the art vehicle was paid for with a US Government grant. The cost was nearly $400,000. The previous command post was a modified RV that was nearly a quarter century old. Up to five suspects can be processed at one time, breath tests administered, and computer links to Police Headquarters.


Police made 41 arrests in their Westport checkpoint on Thursday night. More than 800 vehicles were stopped. One arrest was made for assault on a Police Officer, three for possession of marijuana, and numerous persons arrested on various warrants. Though I am not usually a proponent of DUI checkpoints, if you were stupid enough to be driving drunk near Westport on St Patrick's Day, you deserve to be arrested - and made fun of. Enjoy your thousands of dollars in fines and fees!

KCMO Police Commanders and Chief in Hot Water Over Dinners

An investigation has revealed that some inappropriate charges were made to Kansas City Police Department credit cards for expensive dinners and alcoholic drinks. The charges in question were for dinners at the Capital Grille and included the Police Commanders and a lobbyist. One of the dinners also included Chief Jim Corwin. There were three meals in all at Capital Grille totaling almost $2000.

Chief Corwin says he takes responsibility for the inappropriate charges and that the Capital Grille was a poor choice of restaurant. The money for those meals will be reimbursed (because they were caught, of course). The Department policy against alcohol purchased at these dinners will be reviewed.

Really the problem here is how business in done in our political system. The Police Department was simply trying to schmooze lobbyists like everyone else does if you want to get anything done in Jefferson City. The amount of money spent to grease the wheels of democracy is stunning. This is really not a big deal, they got caught, reimbursed the money, and will be more careful in the future. The real damage is on a Public Relations front - it just looks bad to be spending taxpayer money on expensive meals and booze, but really we are all just jealous.

Scouting 500 2014 at Kansas Speedway Featuring The Zeros by KCMB News Kansas City

This Saturday Richard Petty will be bringing the Scouting 500 2014 to the Kansas Speedway. This event is expected to draw over 12,000 people and started on Friday night with a "camp in" on the infield of the Kansas Speedway race track. On Saturday the action starts with a mock NASCAR race presented by Richard Petty's NASCAR Experience. Drivers will make a 45 lap run around the track in a simulated race. There will be a pre-race flyover by America's finest, similar to what we see at Arrowhead prior to Chiefs games and then the 45 lap race will kick off. There will also be an appearance by Kansas Governor Sam Brownback and Christa Dubill from 41 Action News. After the race there will be a concert by Kansas City's favorite 80's band The Zeros, presented by Adam Blue Productions.

The Scouting 500 2014 at Kansas Speedway is meant to raise the awareness and the importance of scouting and it's benefits on the community. Activities during the day will include a NASCAR action challenge, a scuba pool, zip lines, rock climbing towers, a climbing wall and hot air balloons. There will be career training including welding, carpentry, aviation, engineering, architecture, and the KCMO Police Department will also be putting on a seminar and demonstration. And did we mention skydiving? There will also be skydiving. Wait, there's more! There will be sports clinics, Kansas City Chiefs ambassadors, personal training and an obstacle course. Tickets / Visitor Passes will be available throughout the entire day at Gate D.

Southwest High School Problems are Avoidable and Embarassing

Southwest High School in Kansas City is a joke. On Friday, the Fire Department was called to the School on two separate occasions, and Police later called for a fight. The School, known as The Southwest Early College Campus, has been making some strides in recent years, but this year has been a shambles. The Kansas City Fire Department has been called to the school more than 50 TIMES since August! That's like once every 2 and half days. How can that be any kind of a learning environment.

Being an "Early College Campus" you might think the kids would be the best and brightest of the school district. If that's the case, the city is fucked for the future. Security has been doubled, some of the worst offenders were sent to a new alternative High School, and still the problems persist. If you live in the KCMO School District and you don't send your kids to private school, you are ABUSING them - plain and simple. Get out now if you can't afford private schools.

Every student and parent should be made to sign a document stating the rules for civilized behavior. This kind of bullshit is not tolerated anywhere else, why should it be tolerated in Kansas City schools?  If the rules cannot be followed, then the students should be expelled, plain and simple. The students causing the problems obviously don't want to be there anyway, and at least you can try to teach the ones that are left. The only problem with this plan is that the district is paid per student, and after weeding out the undesirables, you would have very few students left, and that might hurt the bottom line.
