Xpressions Liquor License Revoked

It has been known by many names, "NV", "NRG", and in it's last incarnation, "Xpressions", but no matter what ebonic name they give the nightclub at 220 Admiral Boulevard, the ghetto folk show up...the ghetto folk fight...someone gets shot...and the club gets shut down. Now remember all of you who want to yell RACISM right now, it's not racist if the statement is TRUE...

Here at Kansas City News we're going to start by pointing out something that all of the other Kansas City news sources are afraid to talk about:

Is it possible to create a location or establishment where the black youth can party safely without disturbing surrounding businesses and residents, avoid confrontations and disturbance calls to the KCPD, and avoid shootings and other violence? So far, the answer is no.

Now, here is the million dollar question: Does the problem lie in the environment, i.e. the nightclub, the location, etc.? Or does the problem lie in the fact that young black people lack sophistication and are unable to gather in public without fighting and pulling out guns? Just like many things in life, the answer is probably BOTH. We are certain that a few bad apples can spoil it for the whole bunch, and for that we sympathize, but the fact remains that Kansas City has not been able to keep a black nightclub (age 21+) open not matter where they try to locate it, and no matter how many security guards and police they employ to secure it.

The only black nightclubs that seem to remain open for long periods of time are those who limit the age to 25 and over or in some cases even 35 and over. Now what does this say about what the older black people think about their own youth? They know the situation perfectly well, and that is why they limit their drinking and dancing establishments to 35 years old and over.

One thing that we have to point out here is that most of the altercations begin either inside or immediately outside the nightclub, then they escalate to violence and gun fights in the surrounding parking lots or a few blocks away from the nightclub. Such was the way it went for many of the incidents that allegedly involved Xpressions, NV, and NRG. The most recent problem that Xpressions faced was that new owners Eric and Natasha Union were unable to secure the help of off duty police officers and other security companies because they feared for their own safety. Eric and Natasha Union have not been officially notified of their liquor license revocation, and Xpressions continues to operate, but we don't know for how long.

Obviously, Xpressions owners and their legal staff pulled the race card in a suit against former Kansas City Police Major Gary Majors, claiming that they were discriminated against because they are black. Several black political figures including Councilman Jermaine Reed and Shalonn "Kiki" Curls attempted to get involved in the case, but were laughed off the stand when it was discovered that Xpressions nightclub was not even located in either of the black politician's districts.

Plaza Teen Gatherings Warrent Curfew

We were just down on the plaza picking up some food from Cafe Brio, and it is official, the plaza has turned almost 50% ghetto. I don't know why the urbanites have crawled out of the hood and descended upon the plaza of all places, but I guess they got tired of terrorizing and trashing up Westport. At any rate, the minority gatherings continue and have caused the city of Kansas City to authorize a curfew of 9pm for anyone under the age of 18.

This should solve most of the problem, as long as they have enough police officers on staff to enforce the new plaza curfew. I'm sure that the response that police will get when they try to question any of the thugs will be something like "man, I ain't got my I.D. on me Homie, shit, I'm 22 muthafucka". I'm not sure how the police are going to enforce the curfew if the ghetto folks don't have any I.D. to prove their age. It is definitely hard to tell how old these people are, there are 17 year olds with full beards, etc. It's probably not that big of a deal to most upper class Kansas Citians as they have long moved to Leawood and enjoy the shopping districts of Town Center Plaza and Park Place. The plaza has officially graduated into the Westport status of completely ghetto and should be avoided at all costs on weekend nights, unless of course you want to end up in the middle of another thug brawl like the one that happened a few months ago in front of the movie theater on the Plaza.

They're doing their best to keep this politically correct on the local news stations, but it's funny that all of the clips and footage they show on TV of the plaza are of blacks wandering around not buying anything, and they even send the token black girl reporters out to cover the story now - pretty funny. In other news, multitudes of cars are being broken into on the plaza all of the sudden and they are mainly stealing car batteries and catalytic converters (for the platinum to make "grills" for their teeth) - I'm sure that the recent rise in thefts don't have anything to do with the new crowd at the plaza - haha.

And before any of you idiots out there that want to pull out your race card and call this a "racist" article, go down to the plaza and look around, or watch the news stations send their black reporters down there - that's not a coincidence, it's not racist if it's TRUE dumb asses.

Kansas City Mayor's Son Handcuffed in P&L Incident

Kyle James, the 22 year-old son of Kansas City, Mo Mayor Sly James was handcuffed during an incident in Power and Light District on Saturday morning. According to the Police report, the young Mr James was causing a disturbance, using profanity, and annoying other customers at Fran's Restaurant around 4AM. The officer noted a strong odor of alcohol on Mr James and behavior that was consistent with being intoxicated. Kyle also refused to pay for his meal.

Apparently, this is not the first incident for Kyle James at this establishment. In the incident report, the officer, who works security at Fran's, stated that he had run ins with the subject on previous occasions. On Saturday however, he really got wound up. He pulled the ol' "do you know who I am" and told the officer he would have him fired the next day. Of course, he also pulled the race card.

While being escorted out of the restaurant, he was involved in a verbal altercation with three men waiting for a cab telling them he would "fuck them like that sweet sixth grade pussy on the playground" - WTF? He also stated that if they met him at 39th & Troost he would "fuck them up". I doubt Kyle hangs out much at 39th and Troost. Sounds like an idiot and a spoiled brat. He was not arrested, but probably should have been.

Grandma Kicks Burglar in the Balls

Kansas City grandma and ball kicking expert Jessica Thomas was out on a walk with her grandchildren in the vicinity of 43rd and Pittman just east of Arrowhead Stadium when they returned to find that the front door of their home had been kicked in. Grandma said that they had only been on a short 15 minute walk to due to the extreme heat. Upon entering her home (why the hell she didn't just call the police immediately we don't know) an armed burglar nabbed her 2 grandchildren and told her to get in the house.

Grandma decided not to cooperate with the burglar and engaged him in hand to gun combat "you don't mess with the grandkids. That's the mother lion instinct," with this in mind she attacked the burglar who then attempted to beat her down with his gun, breaking her arm and cutting her forehead in the process. Grandma put up a good fight however, and in an adrenaline fueled rage proceeded to kick him in the balls. In grandma's own words; "I threw myself in front of the door and decided at that point I was going to make a field goal kick in his groin, and I did".

After grandma kicked the burglar in the balls, he fled the scene and everyone was safe save for grandma's broken arm and the burglar's sore balls. She says that she believes that the burglar lives in her neighborhood and she intends to put a sign out in her front yard saying that she forgives the man (say what?).

I guess the lesson here is, if you're going to enter into the career of burglary, you should probably wear a cup, or grandma will kick you in the balls.

Three Kansas City Kansas Police Officers Indicted

We first told you in January about an alleged sting operation by the FBI where several Kansas City Kansas Police officers were arrested. It now becomes clear that a citizen filed a complaint last summer about officers stealing her property during the execution of a search warrant.

According to the Indictment, Tawana L Webster of Haskell Rd in Kansas City, KS was allegedly deprived of her Constitutional Rights to protection from seizure of her property without due course. In other words, the dirty pigs stole her shit while searching her house.

The Charged are:

Jeffrey M Bell
Darryl M Forrest
Dustin Sillings

All are charged with Conspiracy Against Rights carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years in Federal Prison and a $250,000 fine.

Bell and Forrest are also charged with Deprivation of Rights for last summer stealing a Camcorder and a Play Station Portable from Ms. Webster during a search at her residence. Punishable by 1 yr and $100k fine.

All three are charged with theft of Government property for the January sting operation set up by the FBI. Cash and Video games were left at an apparent search warrant site. Forrest took $300 in cash and two Nintendo DS games, Sillings took $340 in cash, and Bell took a Nintendo DS game and a piece of computer equipment.

These acts show a blatent disregard for the officers swarn duties. It's detrimental to community cooperation with law enforcement, and just plain wrong. I hope they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

At the very least, these guys need help for their video gaming addiction.

Hyatt Skywalk Collapse 30 Year Memorial Design Unveiled

I can't believe that it has been 30 years since the Hyatt Skywalk Collapse. I remember that night well, watching from the TV at grandma and grandpa's house as rescuers ran in and out of the dust and fire, rescuing as many victims as they could. 114 people lost their lives and 216 were injured in Hyatt walkway collapse on July 17th, 1981. At the time and for several years to come, this was the world's largest and deadliest structural collapse in history. The collapse was the result of a faulty change in the skywalk design plans by the Havens Steel Company.

Much like a surreal scene from one of Jack Torrence's fantasy segments in "The Shining", the Hyatt was hosting a formal tea party dance that night. A live Kansas City jazz band was performing, cocktails were flowing and dancing was underway. With over 1,500 guests in attendance, this was quite a gallant affair. At the time The Hyatt was the most prestigious and elegant hotel in Kansas City and the skywalk was one of it's main attractions.

The basic structure of the Hyatt skywalk consisted of 3 suspended open atrium walkways that were about 120 feet long, overlooked the lobby below, and weighed about 64,000 pounds each. The highest fourth floor walkway was suspended directly above the 2nd floor walkway, with the 3rd floor walkway offset from the other two by a few meters. So the lobby of the Hyatt was an open 4 story atrium with 3 open "skywalks" where guests could stand and watch the activities below. At 7:05pm, with that party going strong, there were about 20 people on the fourth floor skywalk and about 40 people on the second floor skywalk when the fourth floor skywalk broke loose from the wall, came down directly on top of the 2nd floor skywalk, and then both skywalks came crashing down to the floor below, instantly killing 111 people and injuring 216. 3 more victims died later in the hospital. The following aftermath lasted 14 hours and included fireman, police and several emergency physicians from nearby hospitals. The rescue operation involved setting up a temporary "morgue" in an adjacent area, and an onsite triage area for those too dangerously injured to be moved. Anyone who was able to walk was told to evacuate immediately, and those trapped under the walkways who were injured fatally were given morphine and told that they were probably going to die. One brave man, who's legs were trapped, authorized the on-site amputation of his legs in order to free him, but he died before they could get him to the hospital due to loss of blood.

In the aftermath of this horror, a group of concerned citizens called the Skywalk Memorial Foundation and family and friends of those who died in the Hyatt skywalk collapse have organized an effort to erect a monument in Hospital Hill at 22nd and Gillham. Today, on the 30th anniversary of the Hyatt skywalk collapse, the foundation unveiled the design for the $800,000 memorial. They are hoping to have the memorial completed by the 31st anniversary of the collapse next year.

Man Charged in 11 Year Old's Death on Fourth

Take a look at this Dumb Fuck. Aaron Sullivan, 50, of Kansas City, has been arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action in the Fourth of July death of 11 year old Blair Lane. For those of you not following this story already, Blair was killed by a stray bullet while lighting fireworks in an east Kansas City neighborhood. The assumption was that some dumbass was celebrating the Fourth by shooting in the air like a West Virginia Hillbilly.

Four men admitted to taking turns firing the gun that investigators linked to the bullet that killed the little girl. The weapon was a 9mm Glock belonging to Sullivan. He turned the gun over to the police earlier this week for testing.

Grown men, fifty years old, firing a gun indiscriminately. Unbelievable. And why are they not charging the three other geniuses? Hopefully charges are pending on them as well. Sullivan is currently being held on $25,000 bond.

And WTF is he looking at in that mug shot? Is he already keeping an eye out for the prison rapists? Enjoy your time in the slammer, dipshit!

Woman Shot and Killed by Police in Kansas City

In a bizarre incident, Kansas City Police shot and killed what they described as a white woman in her 20's or early 30's this morning in the 5800 block of Manchester Ave. That's near I-435 and 350 Hwy on the east side. It all started when a woman called 911 to report that another woman (the now dead one) showed up at her house with an assault rifle and woke her up telling her to "get out". As she fled her home, she heard four or five shots. Police responded to the scene and the woman pointed an assault rifle at officers. KCPD responded with at least one shot.

Suicide by cop? Love triangle? Lover's quarrel? Time will tell, but it is a strange story that Police are trying to piece details together. Police will only say that the two women knew each other, but won't say how. There was a picture of the suspect inside the victim's home though.

One thing is for sure - you point an assault rifle at the Police, they will shoot you. Everytime.

Former Grandview Police Officer Charged with Murder, Rape

Prosecutors from both Jackson and Cass Counties announced this morning at a joint press conference that they are charging Jeffrey Moreland with murder and rape in connection with several cases that span a number of years. Moreland medically retired from the Grandview, MO Police Department several years ago before any of the alleged crimes took place.

The suspect picked up a woman walking down MO 291 in Harrisonville on June 30. He took her to his home and raped her. Afterward, he gave the woman $100, hit her on the head and told her she was stupid for getting into a car with a stranger. The investigation into her abduction and rape, and the DNA taken from that case, led to the break in the cold case murders from 2008 ands 2010.

Moreland has been charged with the 2008 murder of Cara Jo Roberts. Roberts was found in her bathtub, shot in the head. He has also been charged in the 2010 murder of Nina Whitney in south Kansas City.

Moreland had been a suspect in the murder investigations and was asked for a DNA sample on June 16th and declined. Well, he provided one by raping the woman on June 30 and was subsequently linked to the homicides. He fled the area and was arrested on July 5th in Des Moines. Good luck in prison Jeff, I hear they enjoy former Police Officers in there! You're going to be real popular.

Casey Anthony Sentence for Caylee Anthony Death

Casey Anthony is on trial today for involvement in the death of her 2 year old daughter Caylee Anthony.  The jury has been deliberating Casey Anthony's sentence for over 4 hours now and a sentence will soon follow.  The main question that hangs in the balance is whether Casey Anthony will get a charge of Felony Murder or Premeditated Murder.  The latter of course would bring the death penalty into play.

What the Casey Anthony Trial will Decide:

First Degree Murder - if Casey Anthony is found guilty of first degree murder she will either get the death penalty or life in prison.


Aggravated Child Abuse - if Casey Anthony is found guilty of aggravated child abuse she will get up to 30 years in prison for this charge alone.


Aggravated Manslaughter of a Child - if Casey Anthony is found guilty of aggravated manslaughter of a child she will get up to 30 years in prison for this charge alone.


Four Counts of Providing False Information to Law Enforcement - if Casey Anthony is found guilty of any of the counts of providing false information to law enforcement the sentences could vary widely.

The Background Story of the Death of Caylee Anthony
In June 2008 Caylee Anthony, daughter of Casey Anthony and an unknown father (claims have been made that a man named Michael Duggan from Massachusetts is the father) was reported missing by her grandmother, Cindy Anthony.  Cindy, mother of Casey Anthony, and her husband George were working in the yard on July 13th, 2008 when a certified letter was delivered stating that their daughter Casey's car had been towed and was currently impounded at a tow lot.  Father George Anthony went to the tow lot to pick up Casey's car and both he and the tow lot worker agreed that the car had a "foul smell" coming from the trunk.  Upon examination of the trunk, they discovered a bag of trash, but no body or sign of foul play.  Two days later, on July 15th, Casey's mother Cindy became concerned with the whereabouts of her grand daughter Caylee and placed a 911 call to report Caylee missing.  During the 911 call Cindy Anthony told the operator "There is something wrong. I found my daughter's car today and it smells like there's been a dead body in the damn car."  Casey Anthony was also present during the phone call and she told the 911 operator that Caylee had been missing "for 31 days".

The First Explanation of Caylee Anthony's Murder:
Casey Anthony offered up several versions of what had happened to Caylee during the entire length of the investigation.  The first story was that Caylee was kidnapped by her "nanny", a woman named Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez, or "Zanny".  Zenaida does, in fact exist, however she claims that she has never heard of Casey or Caylee Anthony and Zenaida has filed a civil lawsuit against Casey for defamation of character.

The Second Version of The Caylee Anthony Murder Story:
The next version of the story was first brought up by Casey Anthony's lawyer, Jose Baez, who suggested that Caylee had accidentally drowned in the swimming pool behind Casey Anthony's house - and that the family, most notably George Anthony, had attempted to cover up the death.  While on the stand, George Anthony denied this by stating "I would have done everything possible to save my granddaughter if what was said happened, happened".  This second story about Caylee Anthony drowning was soon dispelled when a utility worker named Roy Krunk found Caylee Anthony's remains wrapped in plastic in the woods about a half mile away from Casey Anthony's house.  The skeletal remains of Caylee Anthony were discovered with duct tape on the skull.  This looks like it may be one of the facts that proves premeditation in this case.  The duct tape was placed on the child in such a way that the duct tape would have covered her mouth and nose.

Casey Anthony gets Arrested - Four Times!
Casey Anthony was offered a limited immunity deal by prosecutors until September 2, 2008, but did not take it.  Boy I bet she wishes she could take that decision back.  Casey Anthony was arrested initially for lying to the police, child neglect, and obstructing a police investigation.  Her bail was paid the first time by a nephew of bail bondsman Leonard Padilla, to the tune of $500,200 in hopes that Caylee would be found (and probably for some side benefits from Casey).  Soon after she was bailed out she was arrested again on charges of forgery, fraudulent use of personal information, and petty theft for forging $700 worth of checks and using her friend's credit cards without permission.  She was released from these charges but was fitted with an electronic tracking device.  Casey was arrested for a third time when new charges of theft arose and she was once again bailed out by her parents, George and Cindy Anthony, on a promissory note for $500,000.  Finally, on October 14th, 2008, Casey Anthony was indicted by a grand jury on charges of Felony Murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter of a child and four counts of providing false information to police.  Casey entered a plea of "not guilty" at this time.  This would be the last time that Casey Anthony would see daylight.

Police then launched an all out investigation which included the seizure of Casey Anthony's home computer which revealed that she had done internet searches of "neck breaking", "how to make chloroform",  and "death".  New evidence that up until this case had never been used was a hair follicle test that shows that a dark circle forms around the base of a hair after death.  This was used to test hairs found in Casey Anthony's car that her father recovered from the tow lot. 

The following entry was entered by Casey in her diary:  "I have no regrets, just a bit worried. I just want for everything to work out OK. I completely trust my own judgment and know that I made the right decision. I just hope that the end justifies the means. I just want to know what the future will hold for me. I guess I will soon see – This is the happiest that I have been in a very long time. I hope that my happiness will continue to grow– I've made new friends that I really like. I've surrounded myself with good people – I am finally happy. Let's just hope that it doesn't change."

City of Leawood 4th of July Celebration in the Park and Fireworks Display
Once again this year, barring a rain delay like we had last year, the City of Leawood will be holding their annual Celebration in the Park.  There are several events going all day long including a moonwalk, a train ride, face painters, a show by Lynn O'Brien's Cheer and Dance Camp, a concert from Kansas City band The Shanks, and at 9:45pm there will be a fireworks display.  Parking is not allowed in the Leawood Park but parking will be available along Tomahawk Creek Parkway.

The 4th of July fun starts in Overland Park at Corporate Woods at 4pm with beer, food and live music.  We have a special treat this year as Congressman Kevin Yoder (R) will be opening the fireworks show with a welcome speech.  Yoder was recently elected to Congress - congratulations Kevin!  The more republicans we can pack in there the better, let's get out of this welfare based political path that Obama is trying to lead us down.  There is some old people band playing and then the fireworks begin at 9:30pm!

Can't wait until Monday for fireworks?  No problem, head down to the Richard L. Berkley Riverfront Park for carnival rides, food, drink and live music from Brody Buster and other Kansas City bands.  The festival will be running on July 3rd and July 4th from 1pm - 11pm.  Fireworks will be launched on both Sunday night and on Monday night around 9:30pm.  Fireworks displays will light up the Kansas City skyline!  So if you're in downtown Kansas City, or at The Power and Light District, you will be in for a fiery, booming treat.

Worlds of Fun Fireworks Show July 3rd and 4th
Ugh, our poor sad amusement park, with duct tape on the roller coasters and all, will be holding their annual fireworks display on July 3rd and July 4th at 10pm.  Kansas City needs to build a new amusement park closer to the Southwest side of the city, where the money is, possibly near Stilwell.  Worlds of Fun is jammed so far into white trash-ville, that it is fighting for it's life to stay open each year.

Due to flooding, it appears that this year's fireworks display in Parkville will be cancelled.  Hopefully the flood takes the Parkville Police station under water - those guys are complete assholes.  Fuck Parkville anyway.  We're going to be doing a follow up story on the topic of small towns with corrupt police departments soon so come back and see us :)

We will be enjoying the double delight of watching the Overland Park Corporate Woods fireworks show, and then turning our chairs slightly to watch the nearby Leawood fireworks show that immediately follows at 9:45pm from our secret spot that we will not post here.  Happy 4th of July Kansas City!

DUI Checkpoints for Kansas City, Shawnee July 1st 2nd 3rd 4th

Kansas City Police and Shawnee Police have announced that they will conduct DUI checkpoints on July 1st, 2nd and 3rd in many areas of the city.  Exact locations were not disclosed, but the usual suspects are:

ANYWHERE along Ward Parkway or Southwest Trafficway, the area around 75th and Wornall and 93rd and Wornall.  There will most certainly be a LARGE DUI checkpoint next to the Sunfresh in Westport, as they usually have the school bus at that one, waiting to take away drunk drivers by the hundred.

Remember that the best rule of thumb when you've been drinking and you are stopped by a DUI checkpoint is to tell the truth.  Tell the officer that you have been drinking but stopped earlier in the night so that you could drive.  Lying to the police will get you pulled out of your car every time.  They can smell the booze on you no matter how strong the breath mints are you ate.  Just tell the truth, act cool and tell your drunk ass friends in the back seat to shut the hell up :)

Be safe this 4th of July weekend and get one of your teetotaler friends to drive, take a limo, use a car service, or heck, you can even use the Pedicab Service of Kansas City for a real kick.  Save the dangerous part of the weekend for the lighting of that questionable looking large firework that your insane brother brought to the picnic.  Light fuse and GET AWAY.

Shawnee Jewelry Store Robbery Murder Attempt

Vergal Clemmons and Crystal Slaughter were charged today with attempted first degree murder and aggravated robbery in connection to last week's shooting and robbery at a jewelry store in Shawnee, KS.  Although it took Lenexa's finest a couple of days to catch up with them, evidence from the Johnson County Crime Lab finally pointed the finger in the right direction.

Like an ebony version of Bonnie and Clyde, Vergal Clemmons and Crystal Slaughter  shot up the Jewelry Shoppe at 7753 Quivira Road on June 23rd while attempting to burglarize it.  Clemmons is a felon and was illegally in possession of a firearm during the robbery / shooting so he will be charged with that as well.  The 71 year old owner of the Jewelry Shoppe was shot during the robbery, but was taken to the hospital in stable condition.  Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe said today that the charges against Clemmons and Slaughter were the result of an extensive investigation by the Lenexa Police Department and the Johnson County Crime Lab operative.

We interviewed a nearby resident who claimed that "Lenexa's finest had my entire neighborhood on lockdown, every time I would pull into my own neighborhood they were eyeballing me".  Anyone familiar with Lenexa knows that the police swarm constantly around the neighborhood and it is difficult to believe that anyone would be dense enough to attempt armed robbery in that jurisdiction.  Lenexa is one of those places in Kansas City where you really do need to go 35 mph when posted.

Not surprisingly, Vergal Clemmons is from Kansas City, Kansas, and his partner Crystal Slaughter was in fact a resident of Lenexa, this would lead us to believe that she had scoped out the place, then summoned the help of thug gangsta Clemmons to assist in shooting the 71 year old owner and robbing him blind.  Luckily, they failed miserably and bond has been set at $500,000 for Clemmons and at $250,000 for Slaughter.

How is it that in this day and age of cameras and advanced surveillance criminals still think that they can rob a bank, convenience store, or in this case a jewelry store?  Listen up people, if you are in a public place, you are most likely on camera whether you are aware of it or not.

Kansas City Man Rapes Unconcious Woman

Take a look at Mr. Melvin L Jackson of Kansas City. Mr Jackson, it seems, was just walking down the street mindin' his own bidness when he happened upon a woman lying on the sidewalk near 34th & Troost. Of course, he stopped to see if he could help the poor lady when his penis (allegedly) fell out of his pants and into the woman who was unconscious on the street.

This poor woman wakes to witnesses screaming for the man to get off of her. Police soon catch up to Jackson who has his zipper still open. When questioned by Police, the man said he thought the woman was dead. Oh well, that makes it OK then, carry on sir - sorry to bother you. WTF?

This happened at 11:30 in the morning, in broad daylight, on a public sidewalk. Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters-Baker said that in all her years in the prosecutor's office you think you've seen everything, but this is a new one.

What a sick fuck. Mr Jackson is being held on a $70,000 cash only bond.

Multiple Father's Day Shootings in Kansas City

Happy Father's Day Kansas City! For some reason many around town preferred to celebrate Father's Day by shooting someone and leaving them bleeding in the street. At least four people were shot and killed over the weekend in Kansas City. Not to be left out, early Monday morning KCK tried to get in on the action, failing miserably, as a man was found with non life threatening injuries due to a gunshot.

The festivities started early with the discovery of 19 year old Scott Smith dead of as gunshot wound inside a house in the 8300 block of Lydia. A few hours late, two men were found dead in the street around the 3300 block of Indiana. Later Sunday evening, a fourth man was found dead in the street in the 4100 block of Agnes while police were responding to a report of gunshots.

Bad jokes about Father's Day and Harlem not withstanding, the ghettos of America are filled with children (and adults) who have no father. It's probably the single biggest problem facing blacks in this country; deadbeat, absent father's are more the norm in the urban core than two parent households, and consequently kids are allowed to run the streets.

Maybe the thought of white people celebrating Dad's was just too much to take. Another hot summer in the city -precisely why I don't live in the city anymore.

Five Year Old to be Charged With Murder?

In a sad story out of Kansas City, an 18 month old boy drowned in a bathtub Friday night in what seemed like a tragic accident. Upon investigating the incident, Kansas City Police questioned a five year old girl who was present at the residence. Her answers were shocking to say the least. She told investigators that she didn't like the little boy, he made too much noise and cried too much. She told Police she drowned the boy on purpose in an undrained bathtub.

Little Jermane Johnson, Jr was from St Louis, but had been living in a home in the 2600 block of Elmwood in Kansas City with relatives for the last several weeks. The adult who was present left a sixteen year old, who reportedly has mental disabilities, in charge of several young children. The older girl went to sleep and the five year old dragged the little boy into the bathtub and drowned him.

Murder charges on a five year old would be near unprecedented. They would have to show the perpetrator knew what she was doing, and knew that death was a permanent condition. I don't think a five year old knows that, but she certainly needs help, and someone should have stopped this from happening.

I will reserve judgement on this case until all the facts are in, but something is fishy. The adult supposedly left to get someone at the bus stop. It really doesn't take that long to get to the bus stop from that part of town. Did they leave the bathtub full of water before they left? Why did the 16 year old go to sleep if he/she was in charge of the other children. What is the severity of the mental disability of the 16 year old? In any case, this child needs to get some help.

Independence Police Shoot at Alligator Statue

Rick Sheridan of Independence, Missouri was working in his garage when he heard gun fire.  He walked out to his yard to find three Independence police officers firing away at a concrete decorative alligator that was in his yard.  The police officers fired off several rounds into the head and body of the concrete alligator in order to kill or subdue the predator.  When police noticed that their bullets were bouncing off of the alligator, they promptly left the scene without saying a word to anyone, including the owner of the decorative alligator, Rick Sheridan.

Rick calmly recalls the story of how "three of Indepence's finest lined up on a bank in my back yard and KILLED my concrete ornamental alligator".

The concrete alligator suffered major wounds to the head but is expected to make a full recovery. - KCMB, Kansas City News

Kansas City Priest Charged With Child Pornography

Kansas City Priest Shawn Francis Ratigan was arrested Wednesday on child pornography charges. Ratigan was charged with three counts of possessing child porn and is being held on $200,000 bond. Authorities allege that Father Ratigan took photos of young girls in and around the churches and schools that he worked. He was at St Patrick's in Kansas City North for about a year, and at St Mary's in St Joseph, MO before that.

Back in December, a computer repair technician discovered suspect images on his laptop and alerted church officials. At that time Bishop Robert Finn contacted a Kansas City Police officer and described "a single image of a young naked girl...nothing of a sexual nature" and asked if it was pornography. The officer replied that is was not, but never saw the image or was told that there were others. This information is according to Kansas City Police Captain Steve Young.

The day after the discovery of the images, Father Ratigan attempted suicide and was hospitalized for psychiatric care. Finn also restricted Ratigan's actions, including ordering him to stay away from children and events where children might be present. In March, Bishop Finn discovered that Ratigan had attended a child's birthday party and a St Patrick's Day parade. Soon after, a higher church official had contacted police to provide them with the images that were originally found on Ratigan's computer. KCPD conducted an investigation and uncovered more pictures.

As Parishiners learned of Father Ratigan's arrest, their concern spread. Some wanted to know why it took so long to turn over eveidence to the Police. Poor judgement on the behalf of church officials once again causes embarrassment for a Catholic church that continues to not learn from it's past mistakes. What is it about the priesthood that attracts men who like to engage in deviant sexual behavior and those who will cover up the acts?

Father Ratigan will likely get his punishment at the hands of other convicts in prison. Even cold blooded killers don't like child abusers, especially hypocritical ones. It's no wonder religion is on the decline in this country with stories like Father Ratigan's and this nut.

Kanrocksas Music Festival Lineup Tickets Kansas Speedway

Eminem, Muse, The Black Keys, A Perfect Circle, The Flaming Lips, Kid Cudi, D12, Girl Talk, Flogging Molly and more are headed to the Kansas Speedway on August 5th and 6th for the Kanrocksas Music Festival.

I've heard of stupid names before for concerts, Yallapalooza, etc. but Kanrocksas is without a doubt THE dumbest name for an event that I've ever heard.  How in the hell did THAT name get out of the meeting room?  It's like a tribute to illiteracy.  Well, it makes sense since given the bands that will be on stage will certainly draw Kansas City's biggest morons.  If they posted up a police checkpoint at the front gate and checked everyone for outstanding warrants, they would need 50 buses to fit them all in.  This will be the biggest gathering of white trash that Kansas City has ever witnessed in one place.

Kanrocksas is expected to draw near 100,000 attendees and they are providing camping grounds for fans to stay overnight.  This is NOT a good idea.  The kind of people who would want to hear bands like the King of White Trash himself, Eminem, are not the kind of people who will all get out of this alive.  I'm going to guess that there will be at least 3 deaths at Kanrocksas, and at least 1700 babies conceived.  I'm going to take another wild guess that Crystal Meth will be the substance of choice among these well educated and sophisticated fans, giving them the opportunity to stay up for the entire 48 hours of the concert without needing sleep or food.  The last concert that hosted this many white trash attendees was the 2010 Warped Tour where there were only about 2500 people and 1 person still died of dehydration.  This time there will be 100,000 drunk crystal meth heads in the dead heat of August, you do the math.

There is one shining light for Kanrocksas in that it will definitely be a good place to people watch.  There will definitely be some camo shorts, steel toe boots, the over sized man earrings that make the earlobe stretch out (those are so cool), various trashy tattoos, and some classic white trash girls who look really cute.........until they speak, that is.........  think Mallory from Natural Born Killers (pictured right).

Kansas City Police Dog Attacks Bystander

A 56 year old woman was attacked by a Police dog Sunday afternoon. The woman saw Police activity outside her home in the 4300 block of Chelsea Ave in Kansas City and came outside to see what was going on. She was on the phone with her daughter at the time, and the dog must have heard her talking. The next thing you know, the dog pulls the leash out of the officers hand and attacked the woman. She suffered bites to her head and buttocks. The woman already had a fear of dogs and said she wouldn't have come outside had she known the dog was there.

Police in the area were searching for a gun used in a robbery - a magazine had already been found nearby. The handler had the dog on a long leash and had the choke collar inactive as is customary when no suspects are nearby. The Police Officer, not expecting the dog to react in that way, was not gripping the leash tight enough.

It's a shame that something like this happened. Police dogs are very important to the Department, and I would hate to have an incident like this diminish their role in the Department. The woman will likely win a large settlement and Police will review policies and procedures in the handling of their dogs. The KCPD said that handlers have been bitten over the years, but the last time a KC Police dog bit a bystander was in the early 90s when a man leaned over the top of the dog while some children were petting him. Hopefully the next incident will be decades away as well.
